Non-denominational churches in Pittsburgh

Hi Everyone!

My fiance and I are having our wedding October 12, 2013.  Today we tried to call to get Heinz Memorial Chapel and unfortunately before we could get through the entire day filled up.

We are sad more for the purposes that now we have to find something else that is non-denominational than actually not getting it.

Can anyone help me find a church that is non-denominational?  We are looking to have a semi- nontraditional ceremony and are looking for somewhere that we don't have to be members, where we could possibly bring in our own officient, and where we might be able to do a sand ceremony.

Our reception is in the Southside of Pittsburgh (almost right in downtown) so we are looking for someplace close to that.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

Thanks,
Dana

Re: Non-denominational churches in Pittsburgh

  • First Unitarian in Shadyside is Unitarian Universalist....which is a very, very open denomination.  They will let you do a sand ceremony, not be a member, and might allow an outside minister.

  • Northway Christian is a non-demoninational church community.  It is multi-site with church locations in Oakland, Wexford, Sewickley Valley, and East End. I am not sure on the specific questions that you asked (non member, sand ceremony) but it is definitely worth looking into! Good luck!
  • I'm using the first Unitarian in shadyside. Beautiful church and a very welcoming staff ! Having our ceremony Dec 8 2012 - can give you a review once the wedding is over if you like :)
