Rehearsal Dinner @ Church Brew Works

For any knotties out there that have had either a big group dinner, or rehearsal dinner, at the Church Brew Works, can you give me some feedback?

I am in LOVE with this place, go every time I'm home, and requested it for the rehearsal dinner from FI (maybe not proper etiquette, but..  :).  However, we went there yesterday and I noticed it might be a challenge to have a 40-50 person dinner there (ok, it will be a challenge at many places).  Silly me, I was completely fried from visiting venues and didn't think to ask to see if they have additional spaces / rooms.  I plan on calling for info, but wanted to find out if anyone has been to a bigger dinner there?  The main room seems that it could be loud, and not very conducive to giving speeches.

(I know that this is a typical groom's family event, but as they are OOT, and the CBW fits with our group of people coming in, thought it could be fun.  I have enough other stuff to worry about, but typical me-type fashion, try to oversee everything!  FI is happy if I'm happy, which is super-awesome).

If we don't have rehearsal dinner at CBW I'm leaving it to FI to figure out location (with my help if ASKED)!

I called the CBW for our RD (against proper ettiquette as well)!  There is not a seperate room from what I understood.  Which is kinda a bummer.

I don't really have anything else to add.  But, if you love it, go for it!

I have no idea, but I love CBW too and plan on discussing it with my FI when we go to Pgh this weekend. BTW- How did your venue visits go?!?

    Missy,
My daughter and her husband had their rehearsal dinner here in October for around 35 people.

It was very nice -- but yes, a little noisy. We were probably the reason for most of the noise!  *lol*

We  didn't have any speeches at the dinner. They make a large area with tables pushed together in 2 rows for us - so I am sure your speeches would be no problem.

Everyone had a great time. I don't have photos of us sitting at the tables -- we took lots of photos up at the altar and by the fermenting tanks.

I love CBW too, but I am just not sure its the best venue for an RD. But it depends on what you want. If you prefer a private room, where you can have speeches, or give gifts to BP, etc then CBW is definitely not the place for that.

If you don't mind being out in the open in a noisy former church space on a Friday nnight, then you should go with it.

FWIW, I had mine at Molly Brannigan's in Mt. Lebo and loved it. It was more than convenient from the church, and we had a nice Scottish spread with boxty, fish and chips, etc. :-)

Some other options with private rooms are Claddaugh in the Southside, perhaps Hofbrauhaus (not sure about private rooms), or Spaghetti Warehouse in the Strip gets rave reviews on here. Good luck finding something!

OK, I think then that CBW is out for rehearsal dinner.  With the number of OOT guest we have, we will need our own private room to corral everyone - and there are A LOT of people that like to talk and give speeches, so will take that into consideration as well.

However, I think I will incorporate CBW for our Sunday-after-the-wedding brunch!  MMmmm  Celestial Gold!  :)

Missy, do you love CBW because of the beer selection, the atmosphere, the decor, or what?  If it's the beer, haha, have you considered the Sharp Edge locations at all?  I seem to recall that one of them might have a private party room, and their beer selection, especially for Belgians, is unparalleled :)

I love it for the kitsch factor!

I'm a huge dork with a 3rd grader sense of humor, and the fact that it is a converted church, with brewery items on the alter, just makes my Catholic-school-attending self giggle.  :)  I mean, there is a fresco with a cherub holding a pint glass.  Gotta love it!
