Weekend recap

Good morning, ladies. I can't friggin believe its Monday again, already. I feel like I just left the office and now I have to be back??? Ugh. My weekend was pretty good. Friday I went out to dinner and for drinks with one of the girls from work and her...well I don't know what you want to call him, it's a looking story. He's married, they've been together for almost 10 months, his wife found out, he moved out- and has gone back to his wife now...,3 times. It's an overall hot mess, but it resulted in me not paying for drinks all night, so I put up with it lol. Saturday was a quiet day until I got a call from R to come out to dinner with him and his friend that came in from Tampa. We went to one of my favorite restaurants for beer and blackened shrimp blts. Om nom nom. After dinner, we went to play pool and drink. Yesterday I slept till 11:30 then went to grand units for dinner, hometown do laundry, then a fro-yo date with one of my best friends. All in all a good weekend, but I'm not ready for Monday. I'm exhausted from closing bars two nights in a row.... I'm too old for that shit lol. How was your weekend??

Re: Weekend recap

  • @irishdreamer sounds like the couple you hung out with Friday night were interesting, at least the drinks were free! I don't know what you would call that relationship though!

This weekend went by way too fast for me. Friday night, I met my friend at the casino and we went to our concert. It was fun just the one band we wanted to see (Guster) their set was way too short, Ben Fold's set was way too long (we ended up drinking during that) and Barenaked Ladies played nothing but new songs, and to be honest they weren't that great. But, all in all it was a good night and we decided to get tickets to see Ke$ha next month.

Saturday I went to get waxed while BF dropped off an extra cable box at Comcast. When we got home, we went to Target so I could get all the stuff for gifts for upcoming baby showers and bridal (jack and jill, excuuuuuse me) showers. Then we went to my addiction house (aka Michael's) and got more crafting supplies. We picked up lunch at Panera and had that and of course it sucked. When we got home I sat on the couch and started rolling up 120 size "2" diapers (idk what that means) to get started on the diaper cake since that shower is in a couple of weeks. I promise I'll AW when I'm done. I also got the worse pedicure ever (I cannot find a nail salon in my town that does decent pedicures, I'm about to give up on this) but at least the lady did an awesome job on waxing my eyebrows.

That evening we got dressed up and went out to dinner with another couple to this resort on the shoreline. It was okay except for the fact that EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. NOT. FROM. CONNECTICUT was yelling at their servers. Our waitress said to us "thank you for being so nice, I really appreciate it" you could tell she was stressed out and the service was really good. I mean, the drinks kept coming yet our tab only showed that we paid for one round......I had the CT lobster roll and it was so good. After drinking all the drinks BF had to drop a fan off at his mom's house. She told us that she promises she's not going to die so that she can play with her grandchildren eventually. I told her (vodka helped with this) not to hold her breath because I'm not planning on having kids anytime soon. I just want to end this now, because when/if we do get married she's going to be on my ass about that all the time.

Sunday morning I fought off a hangover. We watched the movie Ted and I finished rolling the diapers. BF went to Stop and Shop to get supplies for sausage and peppers. I stayed in the pool all day and even let Quigley swim in the pool with us. I put him on a raft and he hung out on that while we were in the pool. After pool time I took a nap and watched BB live feed until it was time to make dinner.

I really don't want to be at work today, and may have had a small crying fit before leaving for work today. My job is starting to suck hard-core and I think it literally sucks the life out of me.

  • Weekend was pretty good. A lot of running around and getting some errands done. I hate moving because I can never seem to figure out where to put everything and what I will need to keep and not keep and it's just stressful and I want to quit. Anyways, Friday night FI and I hung out with my parents and drank and ate all the things. Then...we discovered my old high school mixed CDs in my car and had a dance party. It was perfect. Saturday was good because we got a lot of errands done and then FI's parents had my fam over for dinner. We had ribs and bbq chicken and like 5 different salads. It was all so yummy. Sunday I was pooped after church but we had dinner with friends that night and now I'm exhausted. Today is going to drag....
  • @buddysmom80 If I remember correctly, a size 2 diaper should start fitting around 6months, maybe 9? It's been 11 years though so I could be waaaaaaaaaay off. lol

My weekend was a whole lot of meh. I pretty much never left the couch except to use the bathroom.

Friday night, Bean and I watched The Hobbit and I fell asleep right after the company got to Rivendale, so uh...I didn't last long.

Saturday, Donald took Elijah to the barn for an early morning lesson and from the pics I got to see, it was an awesome ride.

Yesterday, my sister came over to hang out. We half watched Property Brothers, half talked for a few hours. Then I made dinner and Donald, Bean and I ate dinner on the couch and watched 42.

Try to calm down and not be jelous of my insanely wild weekend.

  • @buddysmom80 - what a weekend!!  it sounds like you were pretty busy.  I also have trouble finding someone that will do a good mani and/or pedi.  there is one salon that is about a 30-40 minute drive on the other side of town, but I haven't gone since before my foot surgery last October.  I've just been doing it myself at home... and it is NOT as good!

Friday night we did some grocery shopping, bought a juicer, and rented a couple movies.  we watched Safe Haven together and then I fell asleep on the couch while he watched The Hobbit.

Saturday was anniversary day!  we slept in until 9:30 AM, which is a big deal in our house!  we had lunch at our favorite little pizza place and then walked around the mall for a few hours.  we both got a few things since we didn't buy gifts this year, but everything was on sale + 40% off!  H got a pair of green GAP jeans/khakis/whatever that were originally $70 or $80 for $12.99 including tax...  so, some great deals!

we had dinner a fun quirky restaurant that night.  for an app, we got some queso, but it wasn't just any queso!!  it started out with a thin layer of almost-pureed black beans, topped with different kinds of cheeses (which had been broiled to perfection), and then topped with the freshest pico de gallo, green avocado chile sauce, and fresh avocados.  OH MY.  I got the roasted quail stacks (roasted quail layered in corn tortillas topped with cheese, green avocado chile sauce, an ancho chile sauce, pico, etc.) and a side of grilled asparagus.  H got braised short ribs with jalapeno au gratin potatoes and sauteed brussel sprouts.  both entrees were just OUT OF THIS WORLD.  *drool*  we received our choice of dessert on the house for celebrating our anniversary, so we chose a GIANT vanilla ice cream ball rolled in sweet and salty pecans and generously drizzled with house-made caramel and chocolate sauce.

then we walked around the canal downtown until we could breathe again, because we were SO FULL!!

I woke up Sunday with a "food hangover", but we managed to get to church and have lunch with my folks.

the remainder of the weekend we started getting prepped for our Whole30 Challenge.  and I got H to go with me through every item in my closet and get rid of stuff that I haven't worn in years, or I've had since high school and need to let go.  we filled up 3 large paper bags that we're going to send to his cousins in Mexico when his mom visits this fall, and let them go through it and then send it to a children's home there in Juarez.  it's so sad, but the majority of my clothes (well, bottoms at least) don't fit (I need to lose about 5-10 lbs to get back into them), and then a lot of my tops (jackets, especially) I don't wear because my pencil skirts don't fit.  GRRRRR.  so it was definitely motivating to have to try things on and say, "can't wear this!".  but, I also found things that I had forgotten about that I could wear!  in fact, today I am wearing one of the dresses that was stuffed in the back...  so that was exciting!
  • oh, and poor Baxter woke us up at 1 AM puking last night!!  poor little guy.  I gave him half a Pepto-Bismol last night, and he didn't get sick again...  but every noise woke me up after that.  I was worried about the little dude!

he got half his breakfast this morning, and another half Pepto pill.  he was acting super perky, so I think he will be OK while I'm at work.
  • Friday night DH made dinner (pork roast, yum!) for myself and a couple of our friends. We ate, talked, then walked to an ice cream shop. It was a fun night.

Saturday DH and I went out for breakfast, then went out for lunch and I took a nap. Then we drove about 90 minutes to his cousin's wedding. It was kind of bizarre. Very small (about 50'ish people) with NONE of their friends, all family. They had no bridal party, no speeches, no first dance, no bouquet toss. Honestly it felt like a decent meal with two people wearing bridal attire. I wonder if it was so subdued because his family really doesn't like her (apparently she's very controlling). Her dress was pretty and the food was good, that's about the only thing good I have to say about it... oh, and it was open bar. We left by 8:15 to head home.

Sunday I woke up with a sore throat. DH did a triathlon and I stayed home and watched a PLL marathon and did laundry. Then we get ready for Mr & Mrs @jenjenniferf to come over. We had wine and cheese, then a yummy dinner, then more ice cream. Lots of fun!!

I still have a sore throat, so I'm kind of a cranky biatch today.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • My weekend was ok, way too short.

Friday night FI & I hung out, we hung up pictures and stuff on the walls finally. Saturday afternoon we relaxed finished hanging up wall stuff.  We also have a door mat now too! It's all about the small things that make it feel like home. Saturday night went to AC for my friend's bachelorette party. Her wedding is this weekend and I'm in the bridal party too. It was fun we did dinner, some gambling, drinking, and dancing.  We had a snack at 3am and then went to bed. I was up by 9 so I could get to church.

It was fun but I was exhausted. I still am. Sunday morning I drove back up so we could go to church.  Then in between the rain I helped FI with the back patio, it is still being worked on but it's almost done. FI may take off this week to finish it up. Yay I can't wait until this big project is finally done.  Then we had dominoes pizza watched some TV and I passed out in bed. I'm still tired and jsut hoping the work week goes by real quickly.

  • Friday night BF and I watched "Borgia" on Netflix. It's okay but if you're looking for medieval period drama "The Tudors" is way better.

Saturday BF and I were able to go down to the street fair in my parents' home town. The weather was gorgeous - 75 and sunny all day. There were a lot of clothes (and every other booth was tie-dye), a lot of art, some pottery. No knitting or crocheting, but it was fun to look. We picked up some mixes for wine frappes. You take a bottle of cheap wine, add as much water, add the mix, stir and freeze. We had strawberry daiquiri in white zin at 4th of July and that was pretty darn good. We got a bag of that, a bag of chocolate martini (to be added to merlot) and a bag of wild cherry (to be added to chardonnay). Now all I need is the two-buck chuck to make these.

Sunday BF and I finished "Borgia" and started "Star Trek." All the way back to the original episodes. I'm in the mood for some campy sci-fi for a while. And it rained! It hasn't really rained since the middle of June. I figure we picked up a quick quarter-inch or so.
  • @cu97tiger I totally watched a PLLmarathon (on ondemand) this weekend too!

I felt a good bit better this weekend which has been causing me to question this colonoscopy I keep having panic attacks about but I kinda figure I have to just bite the bullet on this and deal. I'm just absolutely terrified of the whole process and unfortunately people telling me the prep is the worst part is just making me panic about the prep (anxiety sucks, if you don't know)

Friday we just had pizza and watched baseball. Saturday, we picked up our dive gear from the shop (it was being serviced even though we can't use it until I'm certified healthy) and hit a ton of traffic on the way home. I worked on my amigurumi monster (I'm taking a class on craftsy) a lot and we watched baseball.

Sunday, I stayed inside mostly cause it was so stinkin hot. I did manage to cut out half of a chess piece on the scroll saw but decided to let that project wait until decent weather. I watched The Impossible while crocheting. It was pretty gross but a good movie. Then we watched This is 40 before baseball. The movie had its good parts but didnt really have a plot.

Just need to get through the next 8 days and I'll be able to chill out hopefully.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @keptinstitches I loved the Tudors!!! The wine frappes sound so yummy, especially the chocolate one. I've never heard of that before.

    Anniversary

  • Morning ladies...weekend was ok.  H had to work and I cooked a lot.

This week is NOT of to a good start.  My backback was accidentally open today so in the 5 minutes before I noticed it was open on the train someone decided to steal my phone (a present from H), some money and my IDs (INCLUDING MY PASSPORT).  I now have no form of ID.  WTF is wrong with people?  Fine...steal my phone and my money but why do you have to steal my IDs?

  • @peaseblossom55, wine frappes are awesome. They're even more awesome because you can refreeze them. I'm a total alcohol lightweight (zero to WOO in less than a glass of wine with dinner), and my dad just kept pushing refills on me ... eventually I'm like "no dad please stop I'm good" and my BF is snickering because he knows I'm trying not to get drunk in front of my parents.
  • Oh no! @keptinstitches I try not get drunk in front of my parents, they don't drink all that much either! My mom thinks a glass of wine with dinner at night a few times a week is a lot of drinking....

    Anniversary

  • My parents never drank when I was a kid. At all. The first time I saw my parents drink was when I was 20 and they had 3 long island ice teas in the course of a summer.

We will have wine now at Christmas and Easter (no kids = booze), but it's like 1 glass each and that's it. My dad will have the occasional beer and he keeps my brother's favorite on hand for when he visits. More booze in the last 5-6 years than in the entire preceding 20, I swear. It's pretty crazy.
  • @keptinstitches my parents drink around us and always have, but they drink SO much more now that we're "legal" lol.  This is even more entertaining since I really don't drink much at all.  I'm really hoping I don't have to be the DD at my own wedding, but I know I'll be sober enough at the end of it if necessary lol

@minskat30 oh my! people stealing my IDs is like my biggest fear (besides needles...)!  Be sure to file a police report if you haven't already and definitely put a fraud alert on your credit (I think I did mine through experian? when my undergrad leaked my info a few years back..ugh, the police could probably tell you what a legitimate site is too.)  What jerks.

@keptinstitches My partner is really into what he called "pop culture education," and he also engages in media very meticulously. The end result? He is watching ALL of Star Trek IN ORDER. He's just started season 5 of TNG. Watching TOS with him was kind of a trip!

My weekend was exhausting. Rehearsal and the concert went well, except my grandmother called me at 1:30 very angry, saying I had told her the concert was at 2pm and she had already arrived and they weren't letting her in because I had lied to her about the time! Fortunately, she ended up re-checking her email after the phone conversation, so when I got to rehearsal, she apologized. She was able to listen to the rehearsal, and then my partner and his dad came for the concert. And then we had delicious pho afterwards. Mmmmm.

But now? I am soooooooo tired. I have no idea how I got through high school playing flute 10 hours a weekend. I clearly cannot do that anymore.

  • @buddysmom80 yeaaaaaah, they're a hot mess. Supposedly they are over now, but I don't believe it. She's a sucker for his BS. Today is freaking dragging!! I'm already cranky from dealing roommate BS and R is rubbing it in that he got to sleep in today because he took a day off. Fucker.
  • @livleighton you two are so damn cute!! Sounds like you had an eventful weekend!
  • @blue&white - That sucks!  I'll make sure to file a police report...I think they care a lot more about stolen passports vs stolen phones.  What is wrong with people who feel the need to steal from others?  And where or where is my good karma?  I found someone's wallet recently and ended up locating them through some google research and returned the wallet.  Why can't more people be like that?
  • @IrishDreamer - That couple sounds like drama...I never understood why some people make the choices they do!

@LivLeighton - You and your BF are too cute :)

My weekend was pretty uneventful. BF and I just relaxed together. He got a lead on a promising job opportunity which is exciting! He really hates not working. I got a flood of e-mails and texts about my job that sort of ruined the relaxed weekend we were having. The new TAs are super stressing out (probably because they haven't gotten any guidance from our supervisor). The syllabus for the Fall semester is super screwed up because two different people are working on it without coordinating with each other - this happened last semester too. Everything is sort of a disorganized mess right now which is driving me up the wall because when it comes to my job I'm a control freak and I'd rather just do it all myself!

  • @livleighton you guys really are adorable!  Sounds like you had a really fun weekend too, even though it went by too quickly!

@minskat30 um, karma needs to be waiting for you somewhere.  I hope it shows up soon :)
