Dress for Officiant

My god-father is performing our ceremony and I'm not sure what he should wear. He has told me he will wear whatever I ask him to. He is not a priest or anything so I don't think there is any required clothing. Should he wear a tux like the rest of the bridal party?

A suit.  there is no reason he should wear a tux.

I agree. Any dark suit he owns will look just fine.

A dark suit, preferably with relatively neutral shirt and tie, would do fine.

If it's a black tie wedding, sure, wear a tux. But if not a suit would be great. He doesn't need to match with the bridal party Colorwise either.

My fiance's good friend is officiating our wedding, and we are just having him wear a suit.  We'll probably go through shirt and ties to go with it, but we're thinking a charcoal or black suit is perfect

My fiance's good friend is marrying us.  FI requested he wear the same tux as the BP, but he's going to have a different tie.  As a thank you, my FI is giving him the free tux rental we get from Men's Warehouse.
