Thank You Notes

We're sending out thank you notes out in a few weeks.  My question is, do you send thank you notes to people who attended but didn't give a gift?  Also, there were some who would not attend, but sent a gift.  I plan to send them thank you notes.

Also, is it OK to do personalized thank you notes on a computer?  Neither of us have very good handwriting!

Thanks!

Just thank you notes for gifts. Personalized is always better. I know I've received some ugly hand writing ones and I still appreciate the effort. They don't have to be perfect.
  • It's not ok to type them.  As much as you try to personalize, it's going to come off that you mass printed.  Take the time to slowly print them.  I have terrible chicken scratch, but I managed to muddle through.

There's two schools of thought on non-gifting guests.  It's never necessary, but some people think it's a nice thing to thank them for coming.  Others (including me), fear that they could be seen as a passive aggressive mention that there was no gift, especially considering that the reception is the thank you to the guests.

Absolutely send one to everyone who gave a gift whether or not they attended.
