  • Hi!  I'm also a NYC bride having a BIG Catholic wedding!  I totally hear you on the high expectations thing.  From the day we got engaged, people have been talking about how excited they are for our wedding and how "epic" it is going to be.  While I appreciate the sentiment, I totally hear you on the stress that it brings.

Just remember, all that really matters is that you and your FI will be married at the end of the day.

Weddings are a blast, I'm sure your family will have a great time!

I'd love to hear more about your wedding/you!
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • Having been a bride twice, I got to "re-do" some of the things that irritated me the most about my first wedding. I did the whole big wedding thing the first time around and there were MANY expectations, not to mention that I had to deal with divorced parents who each had their own set. Honestly, everyone forgot about everything once the wedding started. They'll be so caught up in the moment and seeing you enjoying your time that it will all go out the window.

FWIW, It's nice to have a big wedding the first time around, but honestly, one of the reasons I chose not to have another large wedding was because of family stress. There were MANY reasons I did what I did, but stress was a huge factor in my decision. Even though I knew it would go away during the big day, I didn't want to live with it leading up to it.

Breathe.  If you have all the peices in place -- a church, a nice meal, good music & an open bar you have given your family & friends all the things they need to have a great time.  If they don't, it's their fault not yours.  Think about how much you love your FI & how bright your future together is.  Smile & go have a have a good time.
