affordable venue

My best friend is Getting married and is having a difficult time finding a venue in her budget. Any suggestions for an affordable wedding venue in CT?

Re: affordable venue

  • What is she looking for and what does she consider affordable. Is she looking for country club type, ball room, or just a space that includes everything

  • What's affordable? Because I know someone's idea of affordable is a venue that charges $80/pp but for me, not so much ;)

What part of CT? We considered Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield (4 hours for $1200,plus two hours for set-up and take down), the Carousel at Lighthouse Point (around $3200 for 5 hours, but you can rent for longer at extra charge), and Riverside Fire Company Engine 6 in East Haven (only $200 for five hours, and only $50 for each additional hour!!! That one's not on any wedding boards, but you'd have to DIY and rent everything you needed, tables, linens, china, etc., which can quickly add up with a caterer.) We ended up going with an all-inclusive place just because we are planning long distance, but if you're up for the DIY there are definitely some options...

  • Great Thanks!   Anything under 100 dollars a plate would be great to be updated on.

Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby, CT.  Meal prices range from 78-95 depending on your choices.  Their prices already include tax, and there is no service fees either.
  • Double Tree Hotel in Norwalk is under $100 a plate. Under $20 for kids and even includes centerpieces and open bar

  • When I was looking, the Aria is Prospect was still on special since they hadn't officially opened yet and it was absolutely under $100/head and they included almost everything - and it's gorgeous. I would make an appointment and see if they are still having the special. (one thing to note it's very Italian, which is amazing but I was looking to incorporate my fiancees ethic foods into the menu and wasn't comfortable asking them too...but if we didn't have to, we totally would have booked there)
  • La Bella Vista in Waterbury has plates under $100.  We're getting married there in October and they actually tailored a menu to our budget.  They've gone above and beyond so far so I would definitely recommend them.
