In Need of a DJ

Well I am newly engaged and getting married in Oct 2011.  I have been surprised how many vendors/venues have been booked for our date already!

Well I have arrived at the point where I need to book a DJ.  I am totally clueless, and would appreciate any suggestions/reccomendations.

What is an average price range that a DJ runs?

Any help much appreciated!  Thanks so much!!

Hello, and congrats on your engagement! There are a ton of DJs on the recommended vendor list (found in the "Welcome" post at the top of the page). Here's the link to it:

I paid about $695 for my DJ, which seems pretty normal. They can go as low as $500, all the way up to $1k I've seen.

I just booked my DJ literally about an hour ago.  His name is Craig Lawrence, and he's with Red Hot Chameleon (up in Butler).  Super nice guy, seems very down to earth.  Obviously, I can't speak to his performance yet but he's excellent with responding to anything I've needed thus far and provides an online planner.  For the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception (6.5 hours total), he's around $950.

I just booked Andy Booth, who comes highly recommended on here. I'm meeting him next week, so I can give info then. He runs about $1K.

I'm also using Andy Booth and am so excited!  We had our final consultation today for our upcoming wedding and I am confident he was an excellent choice!

We used Jodi Colella of Accents Unlimited.  She was fabulous!  She has the online planning on her website.  She did a great job of announcing. And she had the dance floor packed all night long.

I'm also using Andy Booth because he came recommended on this site and from my photographer.  As soon as we met him my fiance and I knew he was who we wanted to work with.

Another good DJ that we were close to picking is Josh Walker with LimeLite Productions.  They also do videography if you are interested in doing a package and saving some money that way.

    Good luck!
