Wedding Invitations & Paper

Stamps vs Handing Out

Mom and I are butting heads on this one. I feel like we should just put stamps on all the invitations and send them out at the same time. Then it's in the postal service's hands and not ours. However she thinks that her close friends who she sees every Tuesday could be handed one when they get together as long as I still address them. It just feels wrong, lol am I crazy to think that way?

Re: Stamps vs Handing Out

  • I personally would prefer to mail them all just because but if your mom has strong feelings on giving them to her friends personally I would let her do it. To me I don't think it's worth stressing about :)
  • Handing out wedding invitations feels odd to me. I would mail them.
  • I'd mail them to make sure that they arrive at their destinations without non-guests being present.  If you distribute by hand invitations at times when non-guests are present, that could get really awkward.

    Totes agree!

  • If it's stressing her out, I would just send them.  However, I don't think there's anything wrong with handing out invitations to people who you see regularly.  I handed out invitations to my sister and her boyfriend and a half dozen people I see at church every week.
  • Handing them out reminds me of Valentine's Day in grade school.  I'd mail them.
  • I'm all for mailing them out like everyone else but two guests have already requested we hand deliver them because their mail delivery service is really crappy and they want to make sure they get it.

In that case I'd respect their requests, especially because otherwise you might never get an RSVP from them.
