Catholic Church neat The Palace at Somerset Park?

My church is about an hour away from The Palace. Does anyone know any Catholic church that is close that you don't need to be a registered member of their church to get married?

  • I'm in the same boat as you, except for Montclair. Have you been reaching out to churches and getting turned away also?

  • Yes it so frustrating! I'm continuing to look hopefully one of these churches will accept us. I know we can do a ceremony at the place but I want to get married in the church. Good luck to you on your search!
  • I've been going on masstimes.org to look up chruches around my venue. So far I've 0-3.

  • I think most catholic churches require you to be a member to get married in them.  I looked for a venue near my church not the opposite way around.

  • I'm a palace bride and we just decided to use my home church in Elizabeth it's about a 45 minute drive but you have a gap so it gives guests enough time to freshen up. We went with it due to many churches wanted you to be a member.
  • Just found out that my friend who had her reception at the palace (november 2010) and ceremony in New Brunswichk at http://www.stpetertheapostle.org/  wasn't registered there! she was/ still is registered at her parish in Rockland County, did her pre-cana through a church in Secaucus (where her then fiance lived) and had her ceremony at st. peter.  give it a shot! good luck!

  • We contacted Michelle at The Palace and she sent us a list of churches in the area.  We registered very early for one of them and became parishioners.  It is about 5 minutes from The Palace and it was well worth it as we are now going to be getting married there.  When they sent us the paperwork though they had a parishioner and a non parishioner price so they may be willing to marry non members.  It is St. Matthias on JFK Blvd! Good luck!
  • I live in the area. St. Mathias Church is VERY close (10 minutes) from The Palace. I've witnessed several weddings (at least when people are leaving). Here is the website. http://www.stmatthias.net/connect/
