Got another one of those mail order "bridey bride" decorations, invites, etc magazines. Nearly spit out my drink all over it when I found the "preprinted" thank you notes in the color of your choice with a little verse about thanking everyone for sharing your day.  The catelogue described them as "an elegant way to thank everyone for coming!"

Next stop is sending this one to Miss Jeanne on Etiquette Hell.

 

Additionally noticed- at the back of the mag is the invites and stationary section. Nothing on thank you notes matching your invite style to send personalized, handwritten notes with. GAAAAHHH

I am really tired so I am easily confused right now. anyways, are you saying its not ok to write thank you notes on Thank You cards?

You do know that your thank you notes do not have to match your invitation style right?  Or have to match your wedding colors at all?

@ Maggie, yes I do know that. I mentioned the lack of Thank you notes amongst the stationary options to highlight the level of etiquette ick when it comes to these pre printed "thanks for sharing our day" cards I saw in the catalogue.

@Gypsy, no, I think it's good to have thank you notes written in thank your cards, or in simple stationary. It's not ok to order a set of pre-printed, generic "thanks for being here" type cards and use that as your only thank you to your guests.

I received a thank you card like this before.  All the line said was "Thanks for being a part of our special day!"  Super personal, I tell ya!

I think I would need to add another line or two to it:

Thank you for coming to our special day.

Guess you enjoyed those drinks for which you had to pay. 

Your present better have been expensive enough to cover your plate.

Oh yeah, and sorry we didn't let you bring your FI as your date.

@allispain, @Teddy917, @Maggie0829, @GypsyBrideTobe, @photokitty, and @allisonmarie658.. due to your interest, I took another look at the icky cards.

Unfortunately, the print is too small to read everything. On one side, it says "Thanks...for sharing our special day!" and on the other is something I can't read due to the photo size, but it is 13 lines long on this 6" by 2" card. 

The cards are called "wedding appreciation cards", and are listed as "A pretty way to say 'Thanks for sharing our special day!'" They sell for $3.25 per dozen. Oh, and trying to look them up at the catelogue's store online yielded zilch. Yeah, I'll totally buy a bunch of cards that I don't even know what they say until they get to me. Riiiight.

All the pretty curlicues surrounding the writing cannot make up for the impending tack factor of brides using this in place of actual thank you notes. Like I said to start with, just UGH!

@Muppet- the ones I found are with Oriental too! But they aren't showing them online, just in catalogue as far as I can find. Not the same design as the ones in your link though.

Ughhhhhh writing a proper thank you note isn't that hard!  After the time and money people have spent on you to come to your wedding and give you a gift, you seriously can't spend what, five minutes, writing an actual thank you note?

We ordered all stationery on vistaprint. We made cards on the site that have space for us to write as well as a line at the bottom that reads "Thank you for sharing in the celebration if our marriage! "

I don't consider that rude, as we will still hand write each thank you card and mail them out.
However if I just received that without any message I would probably be offended.
