Giving room number to guests?

About 2/3 of our guests are staying at the same hotel where we're staying. Lately I've had a few recently-married friends mention that I shouldn't give anybody my room number, for fear of them swinging by or pranking. (One of them even said, "I know when sober that it wouldn't be appropriate to come over, but after a few drinks, I think it would be hysterical!") 

I was thinking of inviting all the women over to hang out during hair & makeup, but now I'm reconsidering doing it in my room. We're also staying at a different hotel for the night of our actual wedding, so that might alleviate the problems.

Does anybody have an experience or thoughts?

Personally, I would only want to share my room number with my immediate family and with the bridal party.  Pranks might happen but more importantly, I want privacy!  I am more than happy to celebrate with all of our guests (and we will be doing lots of that!) but I think it is important to have some down time with just yourself and your new husband!

In regards to having all of the ladies over for hair and makeup, how many people would that be?  Do you think having all those people around would be stressful or relaxing for you?  When I am getting ready, I am only allowing my parents and bridal party in the room so I can spend some quality time with them prior to the wedding.  Also, I am worried that if there are to many people there and it gets to loud, I may get a little bit stressed!  The more people that are there, the harder it might be to get ready on time and I know that most chapels are pretty strict on the time that the bride is suppose to arrive.  Just my thoughts!

We are having an insuite meet and greet and we have a block of rooms, we are the corner unit. So most people will know are room number anyways. I think it really goes by the type of friends and family you have. Most of ours will text or call us before stopping by. So I don't think it will be an issue.

I agree with Kiki, we are letting everyone know our room number, but they will all call or text before showing up. That and my sister's family is going to be in an adjoining room to ours. I want to spend time with all of our family and friends. Hubby's and my alone time can happen on our honeymoon.

I didn't give our room #'s to anyone outside of the wedding party (including my parents).  I really really dislike people dropping by unannounced, whether it be my house or my wedding hotel room, so I simply didn't want to deal with that and the wedding party were the only ones I felt confident enough in that they would not make incorrect assumptions.  Additinoally, we didn't know everyone's plus one's, and some of my friends don't always date the most wholesome women lol, so I didn't want anyone that I didn't actually know getting our room # since they would have already known our last name and been able to charge things to the room.

We are not giving guests our room number but have requested our room block on the same floor so guests will probably find out our room number. We dont mind visitors before the wedding as we will mostly be out n about anyway. We are also staying in a different hotel the night of and after our wedding.

Thanks everybody! 

My wedding party is just my MOH (in my case, more than that would have gotten political), so I'd like to also invite my girlfriends for getting ready time ... probably 5-6 girls in a 2BR suite. 

We are also getting there a few days before everybody and will probably encourage people to gather at the pool instead of in our room. Maybe we can just include in our welcome note to call or text to get in touch with us. And MAYBE ask for another floor too.

We rented the Boulevard suite at Planet Hollywood just so our guests WILL come to our room, LOL.
We will have 4 nights at Red Rocks after the wedding for husband and wife time. We want to celebrate (ahem party) with our friends and family all weekend.

My plan is to get an email chain going before the weekend starts. Once we check in we will send an email with the suite number. I'll probably use it to notify our guests what we are up to all weekend as well (We're having drinks at xxxx before the DDB if you want to meet us!" kind of thing.
