Really????

ETA_ removed personal info. (Sorry!)

Just WOW.
Buy your drinks upstairs.
Your meal will be upstairs.
Please bring cookies.
Please bring wine to share with friends.

We provide beer.

PS- We're already married.

Re: Really????

  • Thanks for heads up. Edited.
  • They were married in February. We found out when she announced it at a friend's wedding in March. Now we're invited to show up for a Wedding/Vow Renewal in December from 4-9 where guests are invited to go upstairs to eat at Ruth's Chris (on their own dime), to please bring cookies for their "cookie bar", and a bottle of wine to "share with others".

  • Call my crazy, but I read the site and I actually think the cookie idea is kind of cute!

Everything else is absolutely ridiculous! Bring your own wine? No real meal but your own drinks? That's wrong on so many levels.

But I really do see myself having fun with the cookie thing. Yes I know it's strange though! LOL

  • If it were ONLY the cookie thing it might be cute- I just think that's more appropriate in another setting.  It seems strange to bring your own food and dessert to a wedding/vow renewal/whatever they are calling this.
  • I would absolutely decline this.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!

It's essentially a pot-luck dessert reception which is very rude.
Well, I don't think the cookie part is rude. In my opinion, everything else is rude though.  I wouldn't do it for my wedding, but I really do see myself having fun picking out a cookie that I think represents the couple best or would be the most exotic, etc. I just like things like that.

However, I recognize not everyone would look at it the same way. Hence the reason why I wouldn't do it for my wedding. But I would definitely have fun with the cookie thing.

  • I'd decline and it would take all my willpower not to call out the happy couple on every violation of etiquette they'd committed here.
  • "Cookie tables" are a very common tradition in my city, however as the bride you don't ask your guests to bring cookies.  They offer to provide the cookies for your cookie table.

When I called one of my aunts to tell her I was engaged last year, the 1st thing she asked me was what cookies I wanted, lol!
