no cocktails, and not an hour

What would you call an interim period without cocktails, and is only 30 minutes long?

The ceremony is from 11:30-11:50ish, then guests will be in a separate room next door for light refreshments and non-alchoholic drinks, while the room is switched over from ceremony to reception. During this time, guests can sign the guest book if they would like, step outside to a pretty outdoor garden/gazebo with some neat sculptures, or stay in the room where there will be places for anyone to sit. It will only take about 15 minutes for the venue to switch around the ceremony room. At 12:15ish, the doors will reopen, and lunch will be served at 12:30.

Does this need to be called anything at all?

Re: no cocktails, and not an hour

  • You don't need to call it anything.  We had our ceremony and reception at the same location.  On our invites we wrote "Reception to follow" or something like that and the guests just made their way to that area of the venue where drinks and apps were provided while we took some pictures.

  • Just have the venue coordinator or ushers direct people to the XYZ room for refreshments.

If there are tasty treats in there...I wouldn't want to miss out!

  • We did "reception to follow" as well - you don't have to label it as anything specific.

  • "Reception to follow" for us. And then our guests had apps and beverages while we took pictures. There's no need to really call it anything except when you are discussing the details with someone.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
