The dreaded gap...

We are having a hosted gap. Drinks and appies after the ceremony while we do photos. Then a 2 hour open deck bus tour of the las vegas strip from the ceremony to the reception. There will be drinks and music onboard. The first course will also come out promptly at the start of the reception.
I missed this earlier but I think this sounds super fun!
  • My cousin had a 2 hour and 15 minute gap. Which would not have all been bad except all we had to eat were some very high calorie cinnamon donuts and an open bar. I was not going to load up on these sugary loops of heaven, even though I wanted a second.  It made me think about having appetizers at our wedding but I figured since our ceremony is much later, guests may have had a late lunch. It's just not in our budget to add appetizers at 4.50 a guest.

Yea I'm rethinking our strategy since we couldn't plan our reception any earlier than 530 and our ceremony will end at 4.the reception is 40-45 min away (chicago to burbs) and the hotel is attached to the reception hall. Hors devours and cocktails will start at 530 and doors open to the hall at 6 with a receiving line.

I was thinking since our church is in a very popular spot that we could have after ceremony drinks and apps at one of the bars next to it for about 45 min, while we take pics... What do you all think?

Edit : sorry for the formatting and spelling.. On my phone

I would not expect your guests to appreciate being expected to pay the bar for drinks and apps while waiting for you.  Not a good idea.  Hospitality has to be offered to the guests during the time pictures are taken that they don't have to pay for.  Not to mention, I don't think guests like going to bars in wedding outfits.

Sorry I meant I we would pay for the bar... I would definitely not make it a cash bar... We could reserve rooms and they aren't dive bars... With that info, does your comment still apply? There really isn't much we can do it since we locked down the times. So I'm just fishing for damage control

  • That seems properly hosted to me. At any rate, I'd be happy.
  • @grabows14 why not just start your ceremony a little later?

After 6 years and 2 boys, finally tying the knot on October 27th, 2013!

    This might work better.
