Which veil should I choose? (pic heavy)

Hi ladies! I would appreciate a little help choosing a veil to complete my bridal look.

My dress is a little offbeat, but it fits my everyday style and personality perfectly... a little vintage, a little bohemian. Here is a pic of the dress before alterations (it needs to be taken in a bit to fit properly as I've lost some weight since this pic and it needs be pretty form-fitting):

I'll be wearing those turquoise shoes for a pop of color.

Jewelry will be simple, maybe pearl necklace and small antique earrings. For the rest of the look, I'll have a sparkly sash and a flower crown with ivory flowers. Here are pics of the sash and the hair/flower crown inspiration:

I want to wear a veil at the back of my head, attached at the base of the flower crown. So this is where I need opinions. I got a great deal on a fingertip length veil in point d'esprit fabric that really fits the bohemian vibe of the dress. It looks similar to this:

It would keep the look more simple. I don't want everything to get overwhelming. But the more I look at long mantilla veils, the more I really love them. It's my one chance to wear one, so I don't know if I should just go for it, or if it will be a hot mess. For reference, think something like this, but I would find one with lace that compliments my dress:

So what would you do? Fingertip point d'esprit veil or long mantilla? Go with some other style? Just forget the veil all together? Would you change some element of the outfit? All opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance!

  • I vote for first one, the shorter one. I think that between the lace of your dress (which is beautiful), the flower crown, a long veil would take away from the look and feel you have going.
  • I like the first mantilla. How big will the flower crown be? I feel like the one you've shown is so overwhelming and people won't see you, but they'll see the flowers.

    Dress is gorgeous on you!!
  • Thanks ladies! To clarify, my actual flower crown will be smaller than the one in the picture, with flowers only in shades of ivory. The flowers will be more delicate, mostly daisies with some greenery.
  • I love your dress!  If I were you, I would just do the flower crown.  I feel like a veil and a crown might be a bit to much.
  • I like the first veil best as well but would suggest a smaller, more delicate flower crown.
  • I think both veils are too busy and clash with your dress. I would go with a simple veil.

  • Of the two you posted, I like the first veil better, but I agree that they're both a bit busy. That dress is fabulous and deserves to stand on its own. Maybe a smaller flower crown and a simple net veil?
  • I think your dress is so pretty!  I personally love longer veils, though your first veil was very nice as well.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the opinions! I really appreciate your honesty.

I think I will go with the more simple veil, or maybe get rid of the veil all together. If anybody has other suggestions let me know. Thanks again!

  • First one

  • I agree that you should go with *either* a veil or the crown.  Otherwise there's too much going on between that and the belt and the turquoise shoes.

Yeah, I was worried about this. I would only be wearing the veil for the 20 minute ceremony, but still I don't want the whole outfit to be a mess. So maybe no veil... I'll get to try it on in a couple of weeks and see how it all looks together.

Took the words right out of my mouth (or keyboard!) I too think that both is going to be too busy and it's going to distract from your really lovely, detailed dress. I think that maybe just the flower crown would be enough, unless you are really set on having a veil.
  • It would be too much
