August is half over...

I can't believe it.   And it feels like it's early Oct around here.

DH and I were waiting on some information (job-related) and we got it yesterday.  I'm happy because now I feel like things are settled for a little while.  I hate feeling like stuff is 'on hold' because you're waiting on someone or something else.  It makes me anxious.

Now if my allergies/sinuses can stop kicking my ass, we'll be in business.

How's it hanging this morning?  :)

Re: August is half over...

  • It was downright chilly this morning when I walked from my train to the office. Aside from one horrific heat wave it's been a VERY mild summer.

55 degrees today.  I LOVE it.  Yay for job news.

6let had his first soccer practice last night.  There was a set of boy/girl twins.  It wasn't until they end they realized that the wrong twin had been on the field.  One boy was so excited to get his uniform he stripped right on the field.  The team has to come up with a name.  The uniforms are gold so 6let suggested Golden Rockstars.  I hope that wins.

I also have to figure out the peanut free snack again.  They are going alphabetically for snack so I was petrified I'd have to go first and set the standard.  Somehow my "C" is fifth of twelve.

We've been running like banshees the last few weeks.  I'm glad school is back in our district so things won't be as busy.

  • Heh.  Golden Rockstars.  I love it.

I'm glad school is back in session as well.  Summer is fun, but by the end I'm always so ready for school to start.

Peanut free snack?  String cheese and 100 cal packs of crackers or cookies?
  • They might have to be careful of products made on machines that might have nut dust on them, @mrs.conn23.

Tonight we're going to a screening of a documentary about Burning Man. I can't wait. We're down to a week and a half before we head out.
  • The weather has been cool for the last few days and it's been really nice.  Except that we saw a tree on our walk last night that has already changed colors and begun shedding its leaves.  I like the fall weather, but I'm not ready for it to be fall.

Yeah, they can't be processed on nut machines.  Preschool is the same but we can bring homemade and just a box of crackers, but they want healthy.  Soccer/t ball kind of needs to be prepackaged and require no utensils but it can be more of a treat.  Nobody wants to be the kid with the bad snack.

Costco had those applesauce pouches and Annie's bunny snacks on sale so I stocked up for this reason.

  • Dixie, you sure like that orgy fest.  You dirty lady.  ;)

Man---H has been home less than a week, and we've slept apart 2 times.  He's a drama queen fo'sho.  I just let him pout and spread alllllll over the bed.  He can smash himself on the couch.  It's allll yours buddy.
  • See, I'd up sending kids to the hospital because I know nothing about being nut-free.  We love our nuts around here.  ;)

I don't think the kiddo ever had a team that he was on where nut allergies were a concern. By the time we reached football, the snacks were included in our fees and provided by the league.
  • Heeee @ nut dust.

DH is gone til Sunday night.  He bought me a cake before he left, I imagine that's all I'm going to eat because it requires no effort.

  • @6fsn: do you have Eat N Parks in OH? Smiley cookies are nut free/made in a nut free environment. They're a little pricey to mail order, so if you have one locally, it would be an option.

it was 80 and crazy humid at 7:30 this morning. I'm looking forward to "fall" weather - if we're lucky, we'll get that in time for Christmas.

We had a work party at Dave & Buster's last night. It was fun - nice of them to do as well. The "laughing yoga" teambuilding was bizarre, but we had a pretty good dinner and fun playing the games. I won more than enough tickets to get a reversible stuffed Hello Kitty/pillow for Wolverine. I gave it to her this morning, and she was thrilled.
  • Ughhh, please do not remind me that time is passing. Because then November will be here. I feel unorganized and unprepared. I'm in a bad mood because one of hte people I manage is a total screw up. I have someone on medical leave, someone on vacation, and someone who is so wrapped up in something else that do a better job than her.
  • DH comes home tonight.  I'm kind of sad about it. I like him and all but man it was nice to be all by myself for an extended period of time.  It was just quiet and peaceful.  I really enjoyed it.  The dogs enjoyed sleeping on the bed with me.

August can fly by all it wants.  I'm so done with the one work project and I just want it to be finished.  I have more fun things I could be doing.
