Sky Lanterns?

I really, really want to release sky lanterns for my wedding. Does anyone know if it's legal? Has anyone done it?

I contacted the UA fire department and I'm waiting to hear back but they said it doesn't seem promising...

    I'm not sure about legality, I'm sure it varies by municipality -  but my concern would be if they burned a tree, building or otherwise caused damage you would be held responsible. You'll also need to check with your venue and see if they allow it.

    I am worried about those things, too, but I always hear about people letting them go at weddings. I've even seen and heard of a lot of people in the Columbus area doing that. I'm getting married in Upper Arlington, and I worry about it being a residential area. I'm just wondering if anyone has done it before and has any suggestions?

    Love this idea & I'm not sure if it is legal. I plan on doing the same as a way to remember/honor our loved ones that we lost especially for my father who I miss terribly.
