Graduation Ceremony the Day after? Or Move Wedding?

Last Saturday, we got The date, and The venue all in one.  Everything would happen there.   Everyone would stay there (it's a hotel).  And then some smart person asked my mom, when is she graduating from law school?

Oops, that ceremony is the day after!

Should I keep my date?

Pros:
Everyone is in town already who would go to both
Instead of a brunch for family the next day, MOB would do a party-platter dinner after the graduation
We could just have everyone congratulate me at the reception, and go home the next day if they can't stay
Keep the date I wanted (it seemed all the others fell on red tide weeks, if you know what I mean)

Cons:
Postponing honeymoon (not yet booked) one day (probably doable though we're getting a beach house)
Extra whole day of not touching my hair and makeup and posing for pictures
No down time until Monday (bad for introvert fiance)
I am going to be so flippin' exhausted

  • I agree. It would be nice to have all of that done and taken care of so when you leave for your honeymoon that is all that will be on your mind.

  • I agree with PPs - keep the date. Graduation ceremonies aren't really that stressful. You sit, you walk, you take a few pictures, you're done. You could probably even leave for your honeymoon that night.

Keep the date if it is important to you (and it sounds like it is!).

  • I'd say keep it :)
Just make sure you set aside Monday for your husband :)
  • I dont see a problem either way, but you know it is possible to change your redtide weekend...
    just another possible option
  • I say keep the date, if you can handle the stress of things & maybe post pone your honeymoon a full week it should work out. On Sunday your FI won't be center of attention, you will since your graduating. So that might help him out. Only you can answer this question to yourself, how late do you plan to have your reception go until & are you someone that would be likely to drink at lot at your reception? Basically, will you have enough time to recover from a long active day & recover from any drinking you may do before you have to walk across the stage & deal with family for several hours more.
