Morning

How was the weekend?

We kind of did a bunch of little things.  Saturday we went to a farmers market.  We ran into some of my cousins so we all wandered back to my aunts house stopping at some cute shops along the way.  Then we went to a little park.  We also bought 6let's shin guards.  They're so little and cute.

Sunday 6let decided he wanted to go to the zoo so we went up there.  M2 was hysterical talking to the animals and keeping a running commentary about the trip.  They have a dinosaur ride that I've never been able to take them on (Max isn't allowed).  DH took them and they LOVED it.  We spent the afternoon working on a picnic table.

Re: Morning

  • Weekend was good.  We went shopping on Friday night and then tried to watch Waderlust, but we fell asleep.

Saturday, we went to a the farmer's market, a local park, and to visit A's mom and sister, who were having a yard sale.   My parents were having dinner close to our house, so they stopped by.  We had a fire in the backtyard and our neighbors came over to hang out.

Sunday, sleeping, shopping, DH got ready for his trip to CA.  He was up at 3:30am because his flight was first thing this morning.  He'll be back Friday afternoon.

And because I can.  Max turned 6 8 months.  He crawled up 5 steps, laughs hysterically at his brother, and eats everything.  DH was making dinner with Max at his feet.  I noticed Max chewing and swiped a piece of onion out of his mouth.  The kid was happily gnawing on ONION.

(ETA: I needed to correct his age)

  • LOL!  He's so cute.  I can't believe he's 8 months.  Crazy.

It was a good one, mostly.
Friday, the kiddo and I did play group and took the dog in for grooming.

Saturday morning, The Mr. was working, so my parents came with us and we went to the 'aviation field days' at our tiny airport--got to see and touch planes and all that jazz.
Then my sister came and collected Buffy for an overnight.
The plan was date night...I went out to do some kid-less shopping and the Mr. was supposed to be home at 3.  Then more mandatory OT, it became 5. Then 6.
So date night devolved into 'wendy's takeout and a movie'

Sunday I did some basic housecleaning (which, I'm fairly certain the Mr. is mad at me for not doing more.  I'm having a 'eff you' attitude about it right now though) and met my folks to drive the the family reunion.  It was a small small small affair, that they're talking about skipping next year (switch to every-other year), for the first time in 80 years. :(.
I got Buffy from my sister, left her @ my parents' overnight (since I'd have been bringing her home, putting her to bed then driving her there in the AM :-P), and met w/ my sis and almost-sis who is in town for apps and drinks.

  • I love that picture AND that he was chewing an onion.  My kind of kid.  :)

We did some shopping on Saturday and then had New Friends over.  22yo was better this time but she'd pull out her phone when she wasn't interested in the conversation.  We learned some "small world" stuff that was pretty cool (we lived 3 doors down from him in the townhouses for about a year, he knows one of DH's best men).

Sunday we got groceries and walked around the mall because we didn't feel like sweating outside.  In the evening, we all went to the park to show DD1 a little about soccer - she came home with a sign-up sheet on Friday and is crazy excited even though she has no idea what soccer is.

  • Max is awesome! Let him chomp away on things and expand his palate!

Weekend was over too quickly. Spent Saturday at my mom's continuing the "train grandma" routine for next week.

Yesterday we hung about at home and did Burning Man prep stuff. Went to Costco, went through our totes of gear and clothing. 1 more week!!

  • Oh and my sister got engaged. She hasn't told our mom yet. She doesn't have a ring, but she was asked and he told his moms!

Thursday night DK and I surprised Wolverine and took her to Chuck E Cheese. One of her classmates was there, so she had fun going on the rides and running around with him.

DK and I took a vacation day on Friday so we could have some one-on-one time. He dropped Wolverine at daycare, but forgot to set his alarm, so we slept in later than planned. Ended up driving to a cute old town nearby to walk around in the shops/explore. Funny thing - we've been there 3 or 4 times, and every time it has been a nice day and ended up in a torrential downpour. Luckily this time we were already driving home before the rain started.

Saturday: productive day. DK got some yard work done. We bottled DK's first batch of beer, and started the secondary fermentation on my wine. After Wolverine's nap, we took a ride out to a local DSW to try and track down some shoes I was looking for, and stopped at the mall.

Sunday: hung out at home in the morning. Took a ride to a different DSW  and got my shoes. Got dinner at a california pizza kitchen, and went home where DK and I watched the True Blood finale. (Full frontal Alex Skarsgard, YAY!)

  • Friday was a stupidity of virus proportion.

So Saturday was a bit quieter, and I laid a bit low.  H bought a bike and we rode a bit (to check out how my lungs felt).  I had a bit of a pity party but I sucked it up.

Woke up yesterday feeling better.  Had a great race, tiny race. I'm talking probably less than 200 people, but I was happy with my race.  I was at least 2+ minutes faster than anticipated.  Take that, garmin.  Then by 8pm I started feeling like shit again.  100 degree temp, freezing cold...etc.

So here I sit at work, waiting for the fever to return and when it does...I'm outta here.  I'm not gonna sit here and "tough it out".  It's just not worth it.

    So I am doing costing.

Also...H is thrilled with his new bike...and he will hopefully find out this week about his surgery scheduling.

@Dixienormous- I don't care at all that it was an onion.  I only took it because he has a tendency to eat, well, anything and I didn't know until I pulled it out.
  • oh right... cat food.
  • Morning! We had a good weekend. Friday was relaxing at night. Saturday morning I got up early and played with DS. I then went and got a Brazilian bikini wax. From what I can tell, it looks good and I'll leave it at that. I stopped off at the natural foods/health food store that opened near our house and was pleasantly surprised. They opened a little over a week ago and I was afraid it would be really picked over or still understocked but it wasn't. And I'm happy because I can start shopping there instead of our usual stores which is better for us. Sunday we had more relaxing, and then we went over to my parent's house for dinner. They moved into a new house and it has a pool so we went swimming. Their pool is totally awesome and DS had a blast. We had yummy cupcakes for my birthday, and my parents are taking me to the spa while we are in Maui in a few weeks as a present. Beach in the background while I get a massage? YES PLEASE.

This morning DH and I woke up and watched Breaking Bad before work. Please tell me someone else is watching? The first two episodes are insane.
  • @pmeg819 - DH and I keep talking about starting Breaking Bad but we just haven't gotten around to it. I really want to watch it.

  • @Pmeg819, we haven't had a chance to catch up yet.  And I need to rewatch a few before.  It's been so long, I can barely remember it.

DH went on a float trip this weekend and I went to the big city for an art exhibit I wanted to see.  Both of us had fun.  He was back Sunday and tried to sleep all day.  I had a big fat temper tantrum after getting home from my bike ride about not seeing him all week (gone Mon-Thurs, I worked Fri, he left early Sat am, got home while I was on bike ride until noon).  He stayed up and we talked each other's faces off.  So, while I might've not MISSED him, I did miss him.  :)

First time on my bike in months.  It was glorious.

Oh and I'd go riding tonight, but I'm going to the new women's chorus in town.  They do barbership!  I'm looking forward to even trying it.  We'll see how tonight goes before I make a decision.

Female barbershop sounds like it could be really, really good or really, really bad.

@Pmeg819- a massage in Hawaii sounds like perfection.

  • They're ranked 4th internationally, so I think the talent is there. I'm just not too sure about barbershop and me.  I can control my vibrato, but I don't know how to sound like anything but an opera singer.  Well, I can fake it, but I don't like it.  I like opera, not musical theatre.
  • Also, I forgot.  They bounce around a lot.  Not like dancing on purpose, but like rocking back and forth.  I come from such a classical training, it makes me flinch.  Purposeless motion = bad!
