is there an etiquette for a dress for a over-weight, 51 yr old dress, 2nd marriage bride

HELP!  i have a hurtful over-opinionated mother.  She said that an over weight, 51 yr old  can't have a dress that is strapless, has a train and corset back.  Oh forgot to mention this will be a second marriage for both..  I know, why do I even care........  Can someone help me........
I need some answers ASAP

  • Thank you NYCMercedes!  Mothers- i will never be like that to my daughter.  Why are they like this
  • Silver0319, thank you so much. I apprecite all the support.  I think she just can;t be involved.
my daughter said I look beautiful.  :)
  • Pick out whatever style dress you feel good in. I was a 40 year old overweight bride. My first his second wedding. I wore a beautiful strapless ball gown w/train & a veil. It was champagne in color, but because that color looked best against my very pale skin. I was't comfortable in white.

When picking out a dress take with you people that will be positive but honest if a dress doesn't flatter you. You should feel on top of the world and look wonderful, no matter your age, size or what wedding # it is.

  • thank you 'ERIKAN73",  Did just that.  my daughter and best friend.  was a win-win.
  • You do you. If it makes you comfortable and confident, that's all that matters. You know yourself best and what makes you feel good. Others can have their opinions but in the end, yours is the only one that matters. I don't see anything wrong with you going all out and doing it how you want to. You only live once and need to do what makes you happy!
  • Thank you Kimberlybfpc, I love my dress,so glad I didn't listen to my mom
