Navy Blue & White Striped Linens - Rent/Buy Tablecloths, Overlays, or DIY?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for any help in advance.

I am looking to either purchase or rent navy & white striped linens & can't seem to find them anywhere.  I would be looking to cover 8 60' round tables plus a sweetheart table, either with 120 inch tablecloths or overlays (i would need 72 inch overlays, right?)

My venue does have a rental company, but they quoted me $50 to RENT each linen and that just seems crazy to me.  

My other idea is to buy fabric and make overlays, but I have no idea where to get started with this.  I do have a sewing machine & I think I'd just go with overlays (less complicated than rounds) but not sure where I'd buy the fabric.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really love to hear them!  I'm open to renting them locally or online, or buying them as well.  I just think they're so cute!

I think overlays would be easiest to DIY.  Do you have a Joann's near you?  That is where I get all my fabric from and I make sure to save up coupons and wait until they are having a sale. And since you only have to make 8 it shouldn't run you into too much money.

But $50 for each tablecloth is fucking nuts!!

I second using Joann's if there is one near you. If not, just google "discount fabric" and a bunch of sites should come up. I think you can definitely get away with MUCH cheaper than $50 each.

Bright Settings has a blue and white stripe, but seems like the stripes might be spaced more closely than yours?  I'm using this company for my wedding rentals too, and they send free samples.  Maybe that's an option?

$50 for tablecloth rentals seems insane.  How do people afford that?!
