rehearsal dinner...crazy dreams...

I finally was able to talk to the preacher and set up the rehearsal for 2 days before the wedding. That's awesome everyone should be able to go cause it's after work.  FI finally decided the restaurant that he wants to take everyone to. I was all excited and ready to let everyone know when I found out the restaurant closes at 8 and we would be getting there about 7:15. I don't think that would be enough time for all of us to visit and eat. Last night it had me so upset that I couldn't stop thinking about it. So of course I had some really messed up dreams that seemed to last all night.

How long should I plan for us to be at the restaurant? It took me about 2 weeks to get FI to decide on that place. I'm dreading telling him to pick somewhere else.

Hmm...45 minutes would be cutting it close. If you guys are dead set on that restaurant - could you maybe ask the restaurant to have the food buffet style and have it out when you get there? Is there anywhere nearby that you could go afterwards?

Or can you do takeout from the restaurant - essentially have it catered at your house by them?

We were just gonna let everyone order off the menu. There's only gonna be 12 people max. I guess I will just have him pick another place. And with the way he decides things its gonna be another 2 weeks before he chooses. I really don't like his mindset of "we have 2 months to decide."

If you want to let everyone order off the menu, that's fine, but I'd call in your order ahead of time. We've done that before for work things, and it's worked out nicely. 45 minutes, though, doesn't seem like much time for dinner. I expect to spend a minimum of 90 minutes at the dinner, because that's how long it normally is when I go out to eat with more people than just my FH. And since we're planning on doing more speeches than normal at the dinner, we may even be there for 2 hours.

Just doesn't seem like enough time to visit, IMO.

Before you freak out call the restaurant and see if they would let you stay later. I am sure while they don't accept new tables at 8 they don't kick everyone out right at 8 if they're still eating.

Thanks alot! I think I will check into some other restaurants and just give my FI a choice of 2 or 3. I would really hate to make people stay late at work just for us. I know I hated doing it when I was a waitress years ago.
