Spanish Monastery Question

Hi Girls!
I have my wedding booked for 1/4 at the monastery and was wondering if anyone had their wedding there and had any reflections or comments regarding what they were glad they did, or what they wished they could have done in hindsight? Also, did anyone use the organist they provide? How was he/she to work with?

Thank you ladies and best of luck!

Re: Spanish Monastery Question

  • Also, at night, is there enough lighting in the courtyard? It seems to be very dark... would you recommend lighting?

Hi SuperCrystal,  My daughter is having her reception there in March and we are definitely getting uplighting. I've been told by photograpehrs that it does get very dark.  I think she's also going to have a lot of candles (probably led) and I know they light up the trees plus you have torches.
  • Those are both "add ons" that you have to pay for.  I think it's like $60 to have them do the torches, but that's outside on the walkway, not in the courtyard.

The uplighting usually goes in the cloisters.  There is overhead lighting in the cloisters as well that are on a dimmer and flood lights in the courtyard that are not on dimmers

Thanks Adalya . I thought they could do torches by the cloisters as well.  We have not booked the uplighting yet. Do you think the verhead lighting and flood lights are enough or would you go ahead and spend the added $'s onthe uplighting?
  • I'm having my reception at the monastery on dec 14, 2013 ,the ladies that work there told me there is enough lighting in the gardens and to add the lights in the trees is an additional $60 , i'm also using uplights for the cloisters, as for the tiki torches you would need to buy the oil for them.

  • I personally don't like uplighting because the bright colors are very dance party club to me, and I wanted a more elegant romantic style.  But I saw another wedding set up at the monastery with a more neutral uplighting color that made it look really nice.  So yes, I am getting the uplights in the cloisters-- I think it's worthwhile.
  • thanks ladies! i had no idea that they even offered lighting at all! i know they have light in the cloisters... its the dance floor i worry about. i guess the best thing to do is ask!
  • Let us know what you find out! I'm not sure about the dance floor lighting either.... :)
