Count vendors in guest count?

Is it customary to feed the vendors (DJ, Photographer) a meal and include them in the guest count? I see in my DJ contract that they should be fed a meal. Was wondering what everyone's knowledge/thoughts on this were. Thanks!

Re: Count vendors in guest count?

  • I included my DJ, Photographer, and Videographer in the guest count and gave them a meal. They didn't have it in their contracts, but I figured since the Photographer and Videographer were spending over 10 hours with us, it was simply the right thing to do. We welcomed them to eat what all the other guests were eating, but I know some venues have "vendor meals" for a lower price.

I fed everyone - dj's, Photo Booth attendants, videographers, & photographers. Check with your venue if they charge to feed your vendors, some place do not. But they will be hungry and can't go get food. It is customary to fed them. The venue staff should be fed by the venue, but any outside vendors that will be there through dinner should be fed :-)

And don't feed them last - dj's will eat at their table, but if you feed the photos/ video last they won't be ready for the first dance/cake cutting/ etc.

  • Also check your contract about WHAT you need to feed them.  My DJ states that I have to provide a meal equal to what our guests are eating.

Yes, include them in your headcount but let the venue know if they need seats or not.  My photographers asked to be seated with guests near the bridal party, my DJ will eat at his table.
