    Damn.  I gave my cousin and his Chinese bride $50.  It's what we can afford right now. 

    Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned how much they gave in the first place.  You could turn around and lie and say you got the amount wrong.  Then BE GRACIOUS and say they gave you a perfectly lovely gift.
