Advice Needed Please: STD and Vista Print

I'm fairly certain that I will be ordering STDs from vista print. They will simply be postcards that are a picture of FI and I holding a "Save the Date" sign and then the wedding website somewhere on it. I need to order these fairly soon because we have lots of out of town guests. My question is: Matte or Gloss? I like the idea of matte because it wont look like just a photograph that we stuck a stamp on or a glossy ad but I didn't know ff the Matte would work with having a large photo or it if would dull everything. Maybe the Gloss would look better, I'm having a hard time deciding. What does everyone think? Any experience here? Thanks a bunch! :)

  • We used VP for our StD's and just went with the included paper--i think just the glossy?  You can go on their site and request a sample pack of paper, that might help you decide better.

  • I have done both with VP -- I think glossy is lively for photos, but both would be fine! It will feel much stiffer than a normal photo.
  • I used the 130 lb. premium glossy paper for our STD postcards.  We didn't have a photograph, but had a colorful image that we wanted to pop.  We were very pleased with our order, but they are definitely high gloss!

  • I used the glossy on the design/photo side and matte on the address side. They will get a lil beat up in the mail, as postcards do, so I didn't spend the extra money and went with the basic option. The glossy is not as glossy as a photo - more like a page in a magazine.

  • Thanks for the advice everybody :) it really has helped. I think the glossy will look nice. I'm glad to hear that its not as glossy as a photo and thicker than a photo. I'll get my FI to look at them again and we'll order. Thank you!

This thread is almost seven months old. If you want to ask a question, you should start a new thread.

FWIW, a friend of ours did VP magnets for their STDates, and they turned out lovely. The quality was good, and they were about 4x6 in size.
