Too hot to fine outside???

I'm getting married the 7th August 2014 in caesers palace and I really like the idea of having an outdoor reception, but I'm worried that it may be too hot at 6pm for this? What do you think???!

Re: Too hot to fine outside???

  • Sorry I mean Dine outside?
  • It will probably be very hot. I went to a wedding on July 1st a few years ago and it was about 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) at 4 PM and didn't cool down at all until around 10/11 PM. My fiance went to Vegas last year in August and said the temperature was well over 40/104 every day but with the humidity it felt even hotter. Personally I wouldn't do an outdoor ceremony or reception in August.

I wouldn't want to dine outdoors in 100+ degree weather, especially in nice clothing or wearing makeup I don't want to sweat in.

I think there should be a sticky on the Las Vegas knot forum showing average and record temperatures in any given month in Vegas...Might be useful for planning weddings.  June, July and August regularly approach the record highs at least several days each month, and July easily stays above 110 most of the time with a slight decrease over August down to the low 100s.

  • Thanks for your advice guys. Looks like I'll have to choose a venue indoors. The ones I have looked at like maggianos and joes steakhouse have really good reviews but the dark mahogany wood puts me off, I want something bright and modern, any suggestions???

I got married outside at Caesars in July this year, whilst it was fine for the short ceremony and pictures I woundn't have chosen to have my meal outside, as lovely as that would have been. Saying that, my party did eat outside at Serendipity one night at but it was so warm sitting outside for the duration of one course was enough.
  • Where did you have your reception @spoon1984
  • We had our reception in the Il Moro room at Canaletto in the Venetian, the room overlooks 'st marks square' so almost has the illusion of being outside!
  • How many guests do you have? There are private rooms at several restaurants in the Aria that I thought looked a lot more modern than the others I looked at. I think the Cosmopolitan had some too. I also looked at Bouchon I woundn't say it looked ultra modern but it was classic - sophisticated. http://www.arialasvegas.com/dining/groups-private-dining
  • According to weatherspark, you should expect 102F or hotter - http://weatherspark.com/averages/31890/8/Las-Vegas-Nevada-United-States

There is a lot of private dining options!

  • I'm having roughly 25 guests and two children. I'll have a look at Aria. Would you recommend any particular restaurant??
  • I haven't eaten at any of the restaurants in the Aria I just really liked the look of them particularly the look and menu of Sirio. There was a minimum but I can't remember how much. Some family members ate at a few (not sure which ones) and raved about them.

Check out Mix at Mandalay.  Inside the restaurant there's a 2nd level private dining area that would hold the 25 guests you're expecting.  It's definitely about as far from the Maggiano's look as you can get and due to the number of guests, you wouldn't need a private buy out or anything like that.

I really loved SpringHill Suites if you're up for something just off the strip.  The whole place has a bright feel and is pretty modern, I thought the ballroom decor was very nice.  They do rooftop ceremonies by the pool and were willing to set up rounds for us on the roof for post reception as well if folks wanted to hang out casually after.  Plus the hotel has a free breakfast, which means you can enjoy "brunch" the next day with any guests staying there (and while it's not on the strip, they offer a free shuttle to Fashion Show for their guests), and Roger was wonderful- he was the only venue rep anywhere to email me later and ask if there was anything I thought they could improve upon.  In case you can't tell I really liked it, we just had too many people.

ETA: The one by the convention center, not Henderson.
  • Thanks very much, mix is exactly what I'm looking for .
