First World Bride Problems (Just for Fun!)

Just for fun and being silly, what is your first world bride problem?

Mine would be that there are so many pretty lighting options out there, but I'm having an afternoon wedding, so it won't be dark enough to use them, and I don't want to get married at night. :P

Re: First World Bride Problems (Just for Fun!)

  • i really want to rent nice chairs for the reception.
  • Mine would be that my ideal photographer doesn't have a second shooter that he works with, so I either have to find a new photographer who works as part of a team, or hire a second photographer and hope they are compatible with the first one.
  • My ceremony venue is at the top of a mountain and you have to take a ski lift to get there. The venue suggests having the reception at the bottom of the mountain so people don't feel "trapped" up there (we're paying extra to have the lifts running after hours, so they'll turn it on and off as needed). I want to be a brat and have everything up there since it's so gorgeous.

  • My wedding party and I want to take a party bus from the ceremony venue to the reception venue, but then how will we get our cars after? FWP lol
  • I can't decide whether to serve prickly pear margaritas or hot apple cider with Tuaca as our signature drink.   Logic says if it's cold we do the hot drink, but damn the prickly pear margs are ahhhhh.maz.ing. and we have to choose one or the other.   FML

I would pick the hot apple cider, if that helps. :)
Yeah I think that's what we're leaning towards since those can be served with or without alcohol.
  • I'm already married, but my biggest concern was the transportation to/from our private island wedding. We had to take helicopter to one island to catch a boat to the island where we were married. The boat had some mechanical issues the day of our wedding, so the photographer and celebrant were slightly delayed. When we were off to another island for our HM, the boat still wasn't fixed, so we almost missed our heli connection on the neighboring island to head back to the airport

This is my FWP. My photographer doesn't use one unless she thinks it's necessary. But then she doesn't charge you if she does. Now I gotta try and convince her it's necessary. Ultimately I loved her photos which is why I was willing to compromise on that. She's the pro, if she doesn't think she needs one, I'll have to trust her on that.

Take a party bus from wherever you park your cars (the reception venue? hotel?) to the ceremony!

  • Ha personally I think ANY problem wedding related is a FWP because if you have the money to be spending on a party you dont really have "problems" but I think mine would be that Hobby Lobby was closed on Sunday AND yesterday because of the holiday and I couldn't get supplies to start my bouquets...13.5 months before the wedding.
I think you are right lol! It does suck when stores are closed when you NEED them to be open! I wish I had ideas for my bouquet this early on! I'll prob have to rely on a pro for arrangement...

  • Mine was deciding which shoes to wear - I ordered five pairs and thought they all looked equally good, but in different ways, with the dress.  Wore one pair day of.  Returned two pairs.  And, yes, kept two extra pairs of "wedding" shoes because they were too beautiful to return.
  • I don't have any *yet* but I just wanted to say that this thread made me laugh so hard!

I am excited to shop for my wedding shoes! They are gonna be super glam (but not over the top).

For me that would be a deal breaker. There aren't many things that I have to have but a second shooter for the ceremony is a must! There are so many things that get missed because of only one photographer.

I'm 11 months out from my wedding and my dress doesn't come in for months, but I already ordered a pair of Badley Mishka shoes from Zappos because they were on sale and Zappos has a 365 day return policy. I'm going to order and return so many shoes from there!

  • @ashleyep - One of the pairs I kept was Badgley Mishka - they have so many beautiful wedding shoes!  You'll have to post pictures when you get them - lots of shoe lovers around here!

    @Gisellerina - I got these ones:

I'm not sure they'll go with my dress:

So we'll see when the dress comes in.

I never thought I'd pay that much money for my bridal shoes, I don't really care about shoes normally, but as I was flipping through the pages, I realized most of the styles I liked where BM. The heels aren't too high, which is good for me.

  • @ashleyep - Looks like they will go together, although you never can tell until you have everything in person!  Both your shoes and gown are beautiful - and the back is stunning!!
  • The girl who used to cut my hair (and my fiance's hair) and was supposed to do my hair and make up for the wedding moved to Houston. She set me up with someone else at the same salon and recommended someone else as a regular stylist for both my fiance and I... but I wanted HER to do my hair and make up! Hmp.

@Shessocold ... Everyone takes a ski lift? Like one of the bench ones you sit on? In wedding attire? Those things are super hard to get off of. Will it be cold? I would have 18 anxiety attacks just thinking about it.

Hahaha. I had the same anxiety attacks before I got to the venue. It won't be cold - it's during the summer. The have the regular lifts (which are kind of low so not as hard to get out of) and they also have what they called gondolas - enclosed ones that are easier to get in and out of and not as scary. Also, since we're the only people using the lift, they assured me that they can very easily stop it for people to get on and off, instead of the "jump off and hurry run away before it runs you over".

This is my nightmare. And FWP.

  • I know it is not a popular option, and many might wonder why I want them in the first place, but it is almost impossible to find a brown men's suit.

We only need vests for the groomsmen and can't do that. I didn't think brown would be this difficult.

Note: I mean besides the polyester and satin ones like the ones at Men's Warehouse. They are not that bad and will be the safety vests, but we just wanted regular suit vests.

  • FWP- I can't get rid of my chocolate addiction to squeeze my butt into my dress. I'm good for a week, then I see a bag of M and Ms and I MUST HAVE THEM!!!

FI got a total gym though, and I'm cutting soda and breads so that should help. Since buying the total gym I've had two dreams where my dress zipped up perfect the first time I put it on since purchase. Here's to positive thinking!

That sounds way better than what I was imagining, though the mental image was pretty funny.

Yeah, I'd feel pretty bad if my 88-year-old 90-lb. grandma got run over by a ski lift.

  • We just found out our venue changed its name. Invitations were sent out forever ago with the old name on it. Most of our guests are out of town. We've already started trying to spread the word, but really guys? You've couldn't have waited 15 more days??
  • When FI proposed we were on a month long road trip and I got too fat for my liking from said road trip.
