Random question time: Where do you put the beer cans?

For those of you who have had an in-suite reception or gathering... where do you put all the empties? We're going to have more then can fit into the standard issue hotel room trash cans!

Bring some trash bags from home? Will housekeeping take that out? I'm going to need a lot of tip money!

  • Are you having a bartender / host. I've seen reviews where they take trash out during the event. Im assuming you would have to supply the bags. When we have parties here we keep the empty carton boxes for the empties which makes taking them out easier.

I wondered the same thing about the Double Decker Bus.

  • Ah yes, the bus. Good question too.

We are hosting an informal happy hour in the suite... and I imagine we'll have people up there often, so the cans will accumulate...

  • The bath tub makes a great cooler if you're going to have a huge amount of beer, and yes housekeeping will take bags of trash.  However, I recommend asking the housekeeping person the day before if they'll be working the next day on your room, if they are, let them know you'll probably have some bags of trash just so they aren't blind sided and tell them you'd like to give them a tip afterward so to let you know their schedule.  I do it that way rather than in advance because you never really know if the same person actually will be working your room so no sense giving the wrong person $20.

I was told to call the catering department whenever I needed something removed. (food, trash, ect...)
I wouldn't recommend doing that when you're hosting a party in a suite in violation of the hotel rules.  Someone who likely won't be happy getting called to a room to remove trash is going to be more likely to tell someone who decides to make an issue of it.

  • I agree with Vegas groom I would just bring a bag or two from home and then tip well. Its easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.
  • Thanks everyone... looks like garbage bags and a $20 will be the way to go!
