Lounge Furniture Rental – LED Unplugged: A+
The Monet Ballrooms have an awesome outdoor patio where you
can have your cocktail hour - - that is, if it isn’t 100 degrees outside. When you get married in August,
it is downright cruel to put shellfish and cheese out in that heat, lest you
want food poisoning for all. So,
we decided to create a “lounge area” within the ballroom for the cocktail
hour. I blatantly stole this
idea from Elaw12, who had her wedding at the Bellagio a year before me (thanks,
Elaw!) We rented white
leather lounge furniture and glowing light up tables from LED. Rissa coordinated everything regarding
delivery and pick up, so I wasn’t really involved. But the furniture was a hit.
Hair and Makeup – Harmony Medina : A+
I really liked Harmony, she is very down to earth and
friendly. I hired her to do my
airbrush make up and my hair, as well as my MOH’s hair and air brushed make
up. She also did my mother’s air
brushed make up. She first came by
on Friday for my hair and make up trial.
I was on the fence between up, down, half up/half down, etc. I showed her some pictures and she was
more than willing to do a trial of both a down style as well as an “up
do.” We settled pretty quickly on
the down style for the wedding, and so then she pulled my hair up into a cute
up style for me to wear out on Friday night to our rehearsal dinner. The up style stayed in place all night,
which included a ton of dancing and hot weather. As for my down style for the wedding, it survived
about 5 hours in the heat (running around outside for pictures) before it
started to get limp. It stayed
curled all night, but did look a bit flatter at the end of the night. But I
figured was to be expected. My MOH’s
up do lasted all night long.
As for makeup, Harmony did a great job. I wanted a more natural look (I don’t
often wear a lot of makeup).
I wear contact lenses and sometimes make up irritates my eyes, but I
didn’t really have a problem with her make up. Also, I am pretty pale and I tend to get “red” when I’m hot,
but the airbrushed stayed perfect all night. If you are getting married in the heat, I would
definitely recommend that you try the airbrush makeup. My mother loved her make up and
my MOH’s makeup looked great all night.
I would recommend Harmony Medina.
Music- DJ
Mike Fox: A+++
Mike Fox is awesome and totally made the party. First, from the planning stage, his
website is by far the best out of all of the vendors. He has a very comprehensive website where you log in and
select your “must play,” “try to play,” and “do not play” lists for your
reception. It has sections for you
to indicate all of the special songs for your first dance, father/daughter
dance, etc. Plus, his music library
is huge and he has helpful lists like the “most requested list” so you can see
what other people are requesting (good for getting recommendations or just
jarring your memory so you don’t forget great songs.) Mike will let you send him custom music tracks if you want -
- we sent him a song that my husband edited down in length using music software
for our combined mother/son, father/daughter dance. He was cool with it. He also did all of the music and
microphones for our wedding ceremony.
I think he uses your requested music to gauge your tastes and then the
tastes of the crowd. My husband
and I have very different tastes in music, yet he managed to strike a cord
between the classic oldies and the new stuff.
Most importantly, Mike is a really funny guy that knows how
to get the party going. He can
definitely read the room and get everyone out of their seats dancing. He cracks jokes and had some props (a
blow up air guitar that the one kid at our reception, a 7 year old,
LOVED). He brings his own dance
floor lighting, which the Bellagio allows because he is their preferred vendor
and he does a lot of events for them.
Honestly, while Scheme Events made our event less stressful, Mike Fox
single handedly made our event more FUN.
Everyone was on the dance floor all night long. I cannot recommend him
enough. Book him now.
Photography-
Todd from Bently & Wilson.
A+
This may sound strange, given his excellent reviews, but I
was really nervous about our photography.
You see, my husband and I are both a bit camera shy, and a lot of
reviews say that “Todd walks into the room with the camera flashing at you as
you open the door,” and this made me very nervous and worried that I had booked
the wrong guy for us. I didn’t
want an aggressive photographer.
We didn’t want a lot of getting ready photos (I had my dress on by the
time he got there), and we did all of our photos on the Bellagio property (no
strip tour, too hot for us!) I was
worried we would receive quantity over quality - - I don’t need 1200 pictures
that are just OK; I only need 30 pictures that are FABULOUS. At least, that was my philosophy.
As for the taking of the pictures, Todd is actually an
A+++. He was NOT intrusive, very
relaxed, definitely picked up on our vibe and went with it. He found some great locations around
the Bellagio’s property and he was good at directing the family during the
family photos. During the
reception, he got a lot of great candid photos and he was not intrusive at
all. It’s funny, because his
pictures from our reception are brightly lit (so you would think his flash was
really bright), but it wasn’t overly bright. Go figure.
Our photos were waiting for us when we got home from our
honeymoon- - he had mailed them 10 days after our wedding. We had 2 disks containing a total of
over 1700 pictures. A lot of these
are the same shot (or rather, very similar shots - - seconds apart), so we do
have to cull through them to find the best versions (in our opinion) of the
photos. He also sent us about 200
prints. In the end, we got a LOT
of great photos of our family and friends. Overall, I’m really happy with our wedding pictures. I
also like having all of the digital rights, so we can make customized photo
albums for our parents and family.
And for the price, Bently & Wilson is a great value and I would
recommend them.

Okay, I hope this helps some future Vegas brides. I'll try to post some photos as well.
Thanks!
