We are looking for a venue within an hour of Providence that can accommodate up to 160 ppl. We're aiming for September 2015 and are open to various types of locations, whethor they're all inlcusive or require various vendors. Our budget is 10k right now, but since we put together our monster guest list, we know we'll have to be putting more aside. I realize I'm asking a question that everyone seems to ask, but I'm hopeful you can help me. I didn't grow up around here so I feel totally clueless about all of this. Bittersweet Farms is like a dream location to me, sadly as you probably know, it's too small. Some places I have seen and liked enough to consider are Crystal Lake, Spencer Country Inn, Alpine Country Club. I saw those places a few years ago, and have been combing these threads to see what else might be out there. To give you some more info to consider: I want something relaxed, and just pretty. I'm a country girl at heart and not looking for all the razzle dazzle. Some places that I have been researching are Meadowbrook Inn, Hope Artist Village, Warwick CC, Pawtucket Armory, Crestwood CC, Fuller Craft Mueseum, Wannamoisett CC, Aldrich House, Mettacomet CC, Agawam Hunt, The Dorrance, and Jones River Trading are some other places that I've researched. Any feedback on these? My partner is really pushing Linden Place but I hate the idea of separating guests. Thanks so much for any help!

Re: Looking for venue suggestions

  • Wannamoisett CC is a great place. The entire staff is great. I love it there!

  • I would suggest Quidnessett Country Club. Ask for Lorraine..she's a doll to work with and they are great on prices.
  • A couple of friends of mine got married at Meeting House in Tiverton. Beautiful pictures, very laid back, nothing but good things to say. Also very reasonable pricing and deposit.
  • Have you looked into the Biltmore hotel!?
  • We toured about 6 different places before we landed on the venue.  And I think I talked to about 20 places before then.

I liked Valley CC though Alpine CC was our first choice (we forgo both for a place that will allow an outside caterer.)  I really loved the Pawtucket Armory, but it felt like alot of work to rent the space, tables, chairs, linens, and bring in the caterers/bar tenders/ people to set-up and take down everything. We were going to hire event planners if we had done the Armory, then decided to go with the hotel instead since they have their own planners and DOC.

Is $10K your budget for the entire wedding or just the reception?
Most of these places has a food minimum, I think Alpine was about $9K so take that into consideration.
