I am SO impressed with Dan the Baker! My fiancé and I found him in a Columbus Underground article and I decided to send him a message on Facebook. He is the nicest, sweetest guy and he takes such pride in his work. We called him and went to the bakery (1028 Ridge St. zip 43215) around 7pm and he gave us a tour of the whole place and showed us his homemade bread dough, mixing machines, professional ovens (like stone ones, I think), and the deep freezers. He uses local produce when it is in season and is ethically responsible with the animal products he uses. We are getting 6 pies for our small wedding because we LOVE pie and only just LIKE cake. 
He is accommodating with the flavors we requested and his prices are very competitive and the ingredients and quality of his products are impeccable. We have not had the pies yet…our wedding is not until October, but he gave us two baguettes for free as a sample of his work and they were the best things we've ever had! My fiancé is from the New York Metro Area and he told me after eating the bread that "I can no longer complain that there isn't good bread in Ohio!" Any way, check out Dan if you want to go non-traditional and have pie at your wedding! He is great! I'll post an update once we've had the final product!!
