NWR: DH's 50th Birthday Celebration

I'm in the throws of planning a party for my DH.  So far we have food covered, and a prop photographer; but now I need silly fun games for people of all ages (one of his Aunts is over 80 and still very spry). The theme is Wild West, his invite is a "Wanted" playbill.  I know what I am doing for centerpieces and what the colors are for this shindig, just need fun things to do. The date is in October which in our area is really more like Indian Summer than actual Fall. All ideas are welcomed.

Re: NWR: DH's 50th Birthday Celebration

  • You could spray paint some aluminum cans and have a Nerf gun shootout. Have a line dancing competition. Make a signature "cowboy cocktail."
  • Thanks LeahKate, we are not springing for a DJ for this even dancing isn't the birthday boy's thing.  I like the Nerf gun shoot out idea though that sounds like silly fun!   We are thinking about having a game round robin with silly games from the 60's.
  • I guess it all depends on your definition of "silly".  You could play games that incorporate what might have been done back then......sack races, water in pails races, wheelbarrow races, horse shoes, darts.  You could play the modern day spin of western themes......"Pin the...........star on the sheriff/chaps on the cowboy.  You could try to lasso a toy rocking horse, or make some mock version using a saw horse.
  • mobkaz those are great ideas!

My MIL wants to incorporate some baby shower games such as the date, time and weight of my DH when he was born.

We also talked about "game round robin" where we play games such as Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Mousetrap, Jenga, Go Fish and other easy to learn and play games in teams where we're at each station 2 minutes and then take over for another team member and so on until so many games have been won.  We are planning on having prizes for the winners and white elephant gifts for the losers...

I also like the idea of lassoing a toy horse, and the pin the star on the Sheriff.

Yes by silly I mean kids games that we can do an adult twist to so that everyone is laughing, playing and having a great time.  My DH was very clear that he did not want a this is your life party or a walk down memory lane so much.
  • So we finally agreed on games.  We're having pony races (with stick or hobby horses), egg (plastic) and spoon races, pin the tail on the donkey, and some baby shower games as well. People participating and those watch should be laughing their butts off...
