I keep going back and forth on wether or not I want to have my Mom make the dresses or not...

I found these, and one of my BMs loooves it:

    I couldn't agree more. :)

I've been taking a break the past couple weeks. but am about to start some major ordering.

But the most recent checks were:
    -the dress purchase :):)
-finding places for my OOT BMs to try on their dresses

    next projects include:
    -Ordering vases for center pieces
    -Ordering mirrors for center pieces
-I really need to think about what is needed for transportation (I mentioned this earlier after seeing how on the ball you ladies have been ;p)

Other things that are on my mind constantly:
    -Favors (I'm clue  less)
-BM gifts (too many ideas too little funds)
-Shoes and jewelry and head pieces oh my!

Let's see... recent checks include - booking the photobooth *so excited*
Oh and ALL of my BM's bought their dresses - I know it's SUPER early, but the color I want from Jcrew is being discontinued!! The wedding specialist from Jcrew said that they'll have it this season, but aren't carrying it over to Summer '10 :( boo - so I let the girls know and they were all really excited to get them so it made things really easy!! :) I also got my veil and shoes in NYC a couple weeks ago! SO excited!

My next big project is going to be to start putting together our guest list and begin desinging the STD's - I was thinking of sending them out a year before (so this May) - is that too soon? I know that you typically send them out 8 mo's before but, the only reason I want to send them sooner rather than later is b/c May 28th 2011 is Memorial day weekend so I wanted to let people know in case they were planning trips and things...

Also, in two weeks, I have an appointment to meet with a few florists! I'm hoping to get that nailed down as soon as possible! :)

It feels so good to be able to check something big off the list!

Marburs:Adorable dress!!! Is your mom still going to make them or were you planning on ordering from Etsy?? Either way - really cute!

Sara, honestly I like your description of the ones your mom was making a little more than these Etsy ones.  They're super cute but I feel like they're veering into "costumey" territory with the white straps and belt/sash.

Recent checks: attended pre cana, registered at our first place, ordered samples of the invitations I think we'll be using, found a pianist for cocktail hour, finalized the shower date, pretty much decided upon rehearsal dinner stuff, finally sent in engagement announcement to the newspaper.

Really need to do: decide upon and ask ceremony readers, transporation (this is FI's job and he's SLACKING), reception dress (have an appointment at Neiman Marcus this Saturday!), FI needs to get his tux, need to find tenor and cellist for the ceremony and select music.

I'm not getting hitched until May, 2011, so I have some time.

But, I desparately need to finalize our venue. It is between the Twentieth Century Club and the History Center (which we can't really afford.) So I need to look at the HC catering and see if it is even possible, if it isn't then I need to finalize the Twentieth Century Club.

Oh, also, I have to submit our engagement to the paper, I keep forgetting!

Marbus-Love the Etsy dress too!  I love the button detail on the back!

Elisha-What type of transportation are you thinking?  I have pricing for all of the major limo companies in PGH if you would like itSmile

    Recent Checks:
-Finished my veil, I'm really happy about it.  Especially because it is exactly what I wanted and only cost me $15
-Booked hair and make-up for my wedding day.  Both are coming to my house, which is ideal!
    -Held rooms for OOT guests
-Ordered all but one bridesmaid dress (we are shopping on Saturday)
    -Designed my invitations

    Things on my mind:
-I'm changing my mind about my centerpieces, now I'm pricing vases etc.  I'm having a hard time justifying elaborate centerpieces, especially because I'm the only one who really cares about them!
-I would like to order paper to start printing my invites.  I know its early, but if I can print a few every weekend, come July it will be easy to put them together
-We need to decide on a honeymoon location.

At the end of the day, money stresses me out to no end.  My parents have offered to help.  But, I'm having a hard time asking for hundreds of dollars at a time.  I talk about what needs to be purchased but she never really jumps in to say "oh we'll pay for that etc"  So DF and I are trying to pay for almost everything.  In the end, if my parents offer money, they offer money, if not, DF and I will be comfortable knowing we paid for it (and have the money to pay for it)   //end vent

I have no checks.  I'm still going back and forth with Marriott North (that rhymed!) over a military clause.  I'm just about fed up with them treating me like I'm being unreasonable.  We're looking at other venues now, and the first question being asked is whether they'll waive cancellation fees if we have to reschedule due to a deployment.  Kind of a downer.  Sorry!

Meg- I have no idea what we need transportation wise. Undecided

The ceremony and the reception are in the same location. After the BMs and I go to get our hair and make-up done we are getting dressed at the venue. So really all FI and I are thinking is needing something for after the ceremony and before the reception for like an hour to run the bridal party somewhere for some pics. But that seems kind of like a waste of money. So I'm totally torn.

J (La Fem) - I am loving this post. All of these checks and thing on the mind of you gals are really helping me to think of the other things I need to think about. :)

Thanks dreamalotmp!! :) I thought so too... but I didn't want to send them out too early and have people just throw them away and forget about them!!

marburs - I'm partial to the Jcrew dress too :) but they are all cute! :)

Gianna - May I make a suggestion that you can take or leave? With an early STD delivery date, I would suggest considering STD magnets. That way they won't get lost. That is what we did and we sent ours out around 11 months early since it was a winter wedding near Christmas. You can find really great ones out there. If you want any help, let me know. :)  And again - just a suggestion.

E - We got an executive van for our transportation. Much more affordable than anything else out there.

E- Unfortuantly, it may be hard to find something to rent for an hour.  We were also looking into a shuttle bus for our OOT guests, but the minimum was 4 hours.  I don't know if transportation is necessary?  Your birdal party could car-pool to the picture location, that way not everyone is driving?  Did you think about renting a full size van for the day and having someone drive? That might be cost effective too. -Just my 2cents!

Molly - I have considered STD magnets, I was just wondering how many people would use them... FMIL suggested them a while ago and we've been going back and forth between postcards and magnets since then! If you have any good sites I'd love for you to share them!! :) thanks again!

    Great checks ladies!

Sara- that Etsy dress is cute, but I slightly prefer the JCrew one as well. I'd love to see the invite pic!

And G, I agree with Dream- magnet STDs would be a great idea. I only sent them out 5 months before my May wedding, but we used magnets also. People loved them!

S- Of course I'd like to see the invite!

Meg and M- i need all the input I can get on the transportation subject. I know we really can't afford to get a shuttle for the OOT guests. I do feel bad for that. Which is why I tried to find a hotel that was pretty close to the venue. (a couple down town blocks) The hotel also has a shuttle available for all hotel guests so that should help. FI and I were thinking aout finding a pic spot for the bridal party that is close enough not to worry about it at all.

    Sorry about the WOT

GMC - We did magnet STD's - it was a great idea! :-) We actually still have a few extra on our fridge! I sent mine out in January for an October wedding.

I have heard good things about magnetstreet.com, and I think vistaprint also sells magnets. (I am not sure where I got mine - my cousin is a graphic designer, and did all the ordering with one of her vendors).

marburs - I'm a vote for the jcrew dress - its so cute~!

no real checks to report. :-(  unless you consider it a check that my FI is finally getting his parents to go check out reception venues and says he's going to contact the rabbi about officiating. Until these 2 things are done, i'm kind of at a stand-still.

This really helps to get me in the wedding planning mood - I feel like I have been slacking a little bit lately!

Recent checks:  my wedding shoes, BM shoes, finalized the honeymoon today!!, started collecting stuff for OOT bags, booked our engaged encounter

Working on/needs to be done soon:  will finalize the menu, linens, etc. when we are in Pittsburgh in Feb.; will order our rings then too; I need to start putting together a draft of our invitation and am looking for a stamp of the city of Pittsburgh skyline to use on escort cards, table name cards, and OOT bags; figure out a rehearsal dinner location (we have it narrowed down to 4 and are going to get more info when we're in town).

marburs - I like the Jcrew dress better too!

Marburs - still like the Jcrew ones... but those are cute as well... kind of hard to see as the pics are taken super close...

Thanks everyone for the advice on the magnets!! Afew of the reasons I wanted to do postcards was 1- no envelopes! and 2- I could design them and get them printed myself... I guess I could get magnets made somewhere if I really looked into it! Either way, the one place online I liked was magnetstreet.com - really cute designs!! :)

I actually did postcards AND magnets.  lol- I couldn't make up my mind either. We had little envelopes (made out of wax paper) glued onto the back of the postcard. the magnet was bus card sized and in the envelope. it was super super cheap- all free on vistaprint (just had to pay for shipping)

Meg- would you mind forwarding your transportation research info along to me?  I got some from you awhile back but the company you're using wasn't included there :)  THANK YOU so much!  I need to light a fire under FI to get this done or just do it myself.

G, I used Etsy for my STDs (seller BeanSproutStudio) and was really happy with how they turned out.  Pictures in bio, I think.

Ladies who are frustrated with venue searches- I sympathize!  For me, it has been the most stressful part of wedding planning so far.  Let us know if you need more recommendations or anything.

E, I'm finding these posts really helpful too :)

I used Magnetstreet. SO easy. And not that pricey. We still have ours on our fridge and I've seen it still up on many of our friends and relatives' fridges. :)
