Hello Ladies!
First off, congratulations! As a former bridal consultant, I know what an exciting time this is for you!
I am a senior in the journalism program at UT and I have been assigned a photo essay project that will highlight someone's daily story; "A Day in the Life of ___". Of course, it has to have newsworthiness, be relative, and have a certain angle. That's where one of YOU come in.
I want to highlight a bride. I am still toying with the details but depending on your personality, they might change. My angle is to highlight a bride's search for her perfect dress. I know the it sounds crazy untraditional but I have a few ideas (that might actually be really neat) if you want to not want your face in the photo in dresses. I welcome the idea of open brides who may be more non-traditional but would be open to either one.
The project involves photo and audio. I would meet with you a few times a week for the next 5-7 weeks and show different parts of your life and your journey as a bride. Because this does entail telling the story "A Day in the Life" it would be so great to see you at home, where you are comfortable. I would shoot some shots of you planning, pinning your life away or even sitting at your computer on this website! I would love a few shots of you and you fiancee doing things together for the wedding, maybe even grabbing dinner (or some other sort of unwinding) as a "I really need a moment away from planning" type thing.
The photos, along with audio of you, will be put together in a program called Sound Slides to make a one to two-and-a-half minute piece. Your five to seven weeks (closer to five now) of opening up and sharing your planning with me will all come down to this project, with a deadline of October 17 at 3 PM.
This weekend and Monday (even into Tuesday), I will begin shooting and would love to get shots Sunday & Monday. I know this is a lot all at once but I would be happy to email you so that we can go over details. I would also be happy to supply you with my class syllabus and professor's information so that you can ensure I am telling the truth.
As for where this will be published, it really won't be. I will turn it into my professor and will only post this to my online portfolio (which is currently down but hopefully that changes by mid semester). The execution of this project will depend whether you are a bride with an October wedding that would like to volunteer or a bride looking for a dress.
Ladies, I am extremely excited about this and am looking forward to hearing from anyone interested! Please email me at the address below or comment to this thread and let me know if you are interested!
Thanks and congratulations again!
