All About Tuxes!

We are trying to figure out which tuxes to get.... oy. I had no idea this would be an issue. FI wants a tux that is flattering (flat front pants if possible) and high quality. He wants just a simple two button black tux with a vest and tie. We're not sure what kind of vest... I think a patterned black one with a solid black tie. 

FI just wants to try on the suit, and this seems impossible. I thought I'd see where you all went. So, a few questions on tuxes.......

1. Where did you rent from?

2. What brand was the tux?

3. style, color (two-button, black)

4. vest? tie?

5. was the vest and tie a color or pattern, or just black?

6. Was Fi (and you) happy??

I honestly don't remember all of the specifics but we rented from Valotta tuxedo and really liked them. We rented for prom from them first and decided to go with them for the wedding. I think the tuxes were Calvin Klein but I am not positive. let me see if i can dig up a picture.

Here is a link to a pic of DH and his groomsman in their tuxes. Two button. The groomsman was already drunk when this was taken. He showed up wasted. Fun times. ugh. (DH is in the champagne tux, its hard to see the color of the vest/tie in the pics)

1. Where did you rent from? Men's Warehouse

2. What brand was the tux? No clue... too long ago to remember! I know it wasn't a high end designer though.

3. style, color (two-button, black) Three button... we got black.

4. vest? tie? DH was in a white vest and tie, GMs were in a silver vest and tie. The vest was a swirly paisley pattern (subtle though), and the tie that came with it was striped. Sounds like it would clash, but it looked nice.

6. Was Fi (and you) happy?? Yes. I wasn't sure about the paisley-like pattern at first, but DH picked it out, and it ended up growing on me.

2. What brand was the tux? No tux - not sure of the suit brand either

3. style, color (two-button, black) Charcoal gray w/ subtle pin

4. vest? tie? Bought all the guys ties (see pic above) no vest

5. was the vest and tie a color or pattern, or just black? N/A

6. Was Fi (and you) happy?? We're happy. I wanted a tan/stone colored suit but we couldn't find any that were reasonably priced. I liked that the charcoal gray pin stripe was a bit different and that was what I was looking for. I am also happy b/c the guys will be getting something for their money that they can keep. Total will be about 120-150/guy for suit and shirt. FI is getting a different suit, probably all black, 3 piece - still haven't gotten this yet

2. What brand was the tux? Calvin Klein Super 100s (way better than the less expensive 100% wool).

3. style, color (two-button, black) Black, 2-button, white shirts (the ivory is almost yellow)

4. vest? tie? Vest and Euro Tie; dads will have bow ties.

5. was the vest and tie a color or pattern, or just black? We chose the Tuscan print for all the guys, FI in ivory, dads in black, groomsmen in pewter (fits our color scheme of purple and gray).

6. Was Fi (and you) happy?? FI is very happy; I was hoping to get charcoal suits... but FI really wanted a tux.  Didn't feel like a groom in a suit.  I really like the vests we chose, so ultimately I ended up happy as well

Also, once you hit a certain number of rentals you can choose for the groom to either have a free rental or $400 towards a new suit.  We went with the suit option and plan to get him a nice new one for rehearsal dinner and after.

1. Where did you rent from? Men's Warehouse - we liked the convenience since several of our GM are from out of town

2. What brand was the tux? no idea - we literally did this last weekend and I didn't even bother to look! my bad.

3. style, color (two-button, black) black tux, two button jacket

4. vest? tie? the tie and vest are the same pattern - the guys are all having black vests and black bow ties (DF insisted on bow ties!)

5. was the vest and tie a color or pattern, or just black? there is a pattern but its all black

6. Was Fi (and you) happy?? honestly as long as FI is happy with how he looked (and he was when he tried it on!) then I am happy
