Affordable Venues!

Hi everyone! I'm newly engaged and just started researching some venues online. I'm searching for affordable venues for a Saturday night - ideally under or around 100 pp including tax/service charge/etc. I would ideally like around November 2014 or April 2015, but I'm flexible on the time of year if I can get a really great deal. We just really want a Saturday because half of our guests will be coming from out of town.

Does anyone have any affordable venues to recommend, preferably in Central or North Jersey?

Thanks so much! :)

Re: Affordable Venues!

  • Do you have any specifics in mind?  Do you want a grand ballroom or something more rustic?
A few to check out are The Brownstone, They Greycliff, Ballyowen & Black Bear at Crystal Springs, Farmstead, Perona Farms, The Tides, and maybe Lake Mohawk?  That's the list I can think of off the top of my head.

A girl I work with went to a wedding there last year.  She said she had a great time and the food was good.

In high school we had our prom at the Pines Manor in Edison. I know it is affordable and although I never went to a wedding there, the food was good and the dance floor was spacious.

The magazine "New Jersey Bride" has a section in the back with venues and price ranges per person.  For example, it will say "$85 and up" or "$79-110" depending on the venue, which will give you a good idea where to start.  "The Knot New Jersey" magazine does something similar but with dollar signs.

    Good Luck!

We're having our reception at The Windsor Ballroom in East Windsor.  It's located IN the Holiday Inn East Windsor.  We're paying about 77/pp (incl tax/gratuity).  The package that we got is the "Winter Wonderland" as we are getting married in March 2014.  They have awesome packages available.  Their minimum is 140 guests for a Saturday reception.  I can't remember what it is for a Friday or Sunday.  ALL of their packages include 5 hour open bar, cocktail hour with generous amounts of food, centerpieces, and the cake (from a really good baker in Belmar, NJ...one of which I can't remember the name of!) Depending on the package you get determines the $ per person...I don't think I saw anything over 95/pp but the prices may change each year.  Each package includes different things.  Check them out! We LOVE that we chose there!

PS- you can also hold your wedding ceremony there.

Need 8 adults to make minimum.  Eek.
  • Bridgewater Manor, Berkeley plaza
  • Thanks everyone, this is so helpful in narrowing down my search! If anyone has quotes they'd be willing to share for a Saturday night (any time of year), please let me know. Thanks!
  • Check out the Mill at Spring Lake Heights...we are paying $112 a person for a Sunday but I think they were $125ish for a Saturday night. Prices don't change for different times of year. They have been so helpful and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Amy is the contact person and she is the best!! There is a beautiful garden you can get married and its in a beautiful lake and an awesome cocktail hr area...if you have any questions, let me know :)))
  • The Somerville Elks Lodge on Route 28 in Bridgewater.  I swear it doesn't look like an Elks Lodge.

    The Victorian Manor in Edison

    The Arlington in Mount Arlington

The Jefferson House in Jefferson on Lake Hopatcong

  • If its doable, inquire about cash payments. Some venues are willing to waive the tax if you pay by cash because it saves them a hefty credit card processing fee.
