How do i address the envelopes to a single person?

Mr. John Doe and guest
Mr. John Doe
Mr. John Doe plus 1

On the RSVP card i have a line that says ___Number of guests. So is mentioning the plus 1 really needed?

Do the bolded.

The single person will either write in 1 or 2, then, to let you know if they're bringing someone.

It is worth mentioning the plus-one on the envelope (Mr. John Doe and guest) because it is not required that you extend the option of a plus-one to every single guest. This will let John Doe know that you have the space/budget to accommodate a guest of his choosing.

If you want your guest to know that he/she is free to bring someone with them then yes, mentioning the "and Guest" is necessary.

Address it as Mr John Doe and Guest
