table ideas

so i am looking for table ideas to name the tables rather than have the boring numbers. i was thinking f naming the tables places me and my fi have visited and places that hold special places in our hearts. we have done a bit of traveling the past few years we were thinking of naming the tables after the states towns places we have visited.

do you think that would be a fun idea or tacky should i add something under name of the place so people know what it means?

A travel theme can be cute. You can place a littke notecard if you want to explain why a place is significant to you, but its not necessary.

What about putting a picture of you and FI at that location next to the table name?

That would be nice.  I like PDKH's suggestion, too.

I would also add a corresponding sequential number or have a little diagram at the escort table.  It's annoying trying to walk around in a crowded room to find a table called "Orlando".

This, especially if your wedding is larger than 10 tables.  I recently went to a wedding where they did their hometowns, colleges, favorite places, etc for the table names and it was super cute, but we had to walk around a bit to find "University of XYZ".

I think the photo of you guys there would make it even more meaningful.

Hyechica - we are getting married in 5 days (yay!).  Anyway, we also travel a lot.  We took 10 pictures from our travels, and are using them as the table names.  So, for example, a picture of Mt. McKinley is Alaska, the Colosseum is Rome, etc.  The place cards say the names of the places instead of a number.  So, people can go around and look at the pictures until they find the one that matches.  We did our best to make it kind of obvious, but we also wrote it on the back in case people don't know what a picture is.  Further, the greeter has a chart to point people in the right direction if they look confused.

With 9 tables, we are fine with people walking around a little, looking at each picture, etc, before sitting down.  We built in a little extra time for this before we get announced.
