7 months!

From today! I have to say the first 5 months since our March Madness engagement in Vegas have flown by!

The rest of the five pointed star, this is you tomorrow! Where is everyone with planning these days?

I found an invitation I love on Etsy, but it's wicked expensive. My graphic designer FMIL is going to try to mock it up for us. She's the one that did our Hangover themed Save the Date. I plan to send the invites just after Thanksgiving to beat the holiday rush.

My gals have decided on the purple sparkly Ralph Lauren dress (posted a pic a while ago) and ordered it. Now I need to figure out flowers to go with. Thinking all white, but want to keep the cost down.

I'm still struggling on the gown front. I did get that feathery dress in the mail from Rue-La-La. It's gorgeous! Problem is it's a bit snug. It just barely zips. Since it was so discounted I am going to keep it and hope that I can squeeze into it. I won't put all my eggs in that basket though. If in a few months it's not going my way I will look elsewhere. Worst case I shorten it and wear it the night before the wedding. Actually, the worst case would be not dropping a few pounds, rendering it useless!

Until I get the RSVPs, I'm kind of stuck. Can't plan much more. Looks like I'll be sitting tight until February.

What about the rest of you?

xo

Re: 7 months!

  • Sounds like things are going great!  I am about 7 1/2 months out!  I have the dress, the DJ, and the venue.  We are still working on the invites and finding inspiration for the cake.  I think we found a cake topper, we just need to order it.  We'll send our invites out at the beginning of January.  So, I'm like you, not much planning until we get the RSVPs back and know how many are coming!

We aren't having a wedding party, so nothing to report there.  My sister did get ordained though and I do need to work with her on what to wear.

Good luck with the dress!  What kind of diet are you on?  I'm on my fitness pal and have the same name on there if you want to give it a try and add me!  Accountability helps!

Yay for spring weddings in Vegas!
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • I am just a little under 7 months now (the week before you) and I am right there with you @AllyIdo....I feel like I have done everything I can until basically January, so that is hard for me to just sit around now and wait for the stress to come.

Right now, I have the venue, DJ, photographer, and florist all booked (we have the all inclusive at the Platinum), I made on Vistaprint and have mailed the invitations with RSVP's already coming back (told them they had until December 1st to RSVP and I sent to early due to everyone having to travel). I have my dress ordered, determined the bridesmaid dresses, and bought our wedding bands, and reserved the suite for our rehearsal party/meet and greet on Saturday night....

Basically, like I said, I have done everything I can until now and so I have to sit back and wait until January when I can start to really get things done (get the suits, dress alterations, make travel plans, order food for the rehearsal party, order favors when I have proper guest count)- I guess it is a good thing that I can just sit back and enjoy the holidays with my little one and break into 2014 with a running start :)

  • I'm on MFP too. It's keeping me at 1200 calories a day. Which is easier to do during the week when I have my routine. Weekends are another story.

Trying to cut out drinking during the week, replacing wine with vodka and seltzer instead. Forcing myself to the gym 3x per week. Some weeks it's easier to get there then others, and it's across the street! Trying to cook as much as possible, even on the weekends when take out is our go to. Tonight it's a healthy version of general tsos chicken with snap peas, tomorrow it's Cooking Light Beef Stroganoff!

I also live above an ice cream parlor. Waaaaaaaaaah.

  • Congrats!  Don't worry, the time will fly by quicker than you think!  Good luck with the weight loss.  I lost about 10 pounds and while it doesn't seem like that much, I feel a lot better about my self and my dress fits much better!  I started eating fruit, granola and yoghurt for breakfast.  I found that if I started the day off healthy, it made is easier to stick with it!  Also cut back on alcohol :( and pop and started drinking a lot more water throughout the day.  It made a big difference!

I'm still 10 months out but trying to get things done early because I'm studying about 6 months of every year. Now that I'm starting up studying again, I'm tapering off on planning, but my new "f-this" attitude toward wedding planning has really led to a lot of decision making!

I bought shoes! Because they're beautiful and I found them on closeout. Before I bought my dress. Because F it.

After 2 or 3 false starts, I finally decided I'm just going to print my invitations on plain white cardstock, but really nice 100% cotton stuff. I'm skipping doing a pocketfold, color mat, etc completely. I just have 2 other smaller pieces to print with the invites and I'm going to tie it all together with some ribbon or jute cord, then stick it in a fun purple inner envelope with a plain white cotton outer envelope. That's it! No envelope liners, embossing, etc. I don't even like that stuff, but I had a major case of "wedding brain".

The only bump in the road is that I don't think I'll be able to have everything printed at Staples like I wanted. They said I have to have 'proof' that the paper provided works in a laser printer. I'm looking into other office shops now, but may just end up buying a new printer or seeing if I can use a friend's.

I also decided that I hate all bridal and bridesmaid dresses. I think I might get this $400 steal at David's Bridal for myself and help pay for a chunk of these really comfortable-looking bridesmaid dresses through J Crew. I'm not making any appointments until after my exam, so everything is tabled until November. In the meantime, I'm working on getting off a few pounds too! I've been using my Fitbit to track food, sleep, activity level, and steps. Plus I'm slogging through 30 Day Shred. I just love to hate Jillian Michaels.

  • I heard Jillian is a real bitch in those videos! LOL.

Also, those shoes are AH-MAY-ZING! I'm a purple girl too. Where oh where did you find them?

  • They're right here:

That site has TONS of Badgley Mischka shoes. They are suuuuper nice too. Nicest pair of shoes I've ever bought.

Jillian, well, she means well. She says stuff like "I know you're hurting right now, but push through it, because it's going to be worth it!" but I'm just there thinking "I would rather die and go to the burning pits of hell right now than do another frigging pushup!"
  • Hey point one of our 5-point star! 7 months, woohoo!

As at the last recap, my planning is pretty much done and we're just planning our honeymoon now and still trying to pick a Vegas hotel for the first two nights of our trip. I changed my colour scheme slightly - I've added red to the pink/blush/white mix, really liking it! Its a bit brighter and definitely more Vegas!

My clean eating and exercise has taken a slight back seat for the last couple of months. But now that the 7 month mark has passed I am getting right back on it! Got to get my Vegas bikini body sorted!

Glad to hear your planning is going so well, keep working hard on MFP! What's your username on there? Mine is the same as on here if you want to add me :)
