Meal Cards

Re: Meal Cards

  • A lot of times "the person who pays has the last say" holds true, but for this issue I don't think it does.

What is your area used to?  Meaning, is open seating the norm or is table assignments?  I know that from my area if I went to a wedding with open seating everyone would be very confused.  But if you are from an area that it is norm to have open seating, having assigned tables may confuse your guests.

  • well, i'm from a poorer area, not really poverty but definitely middle class. the one weddings i've all been to have been open seating with a buffet style dinner. we were going to have that ourselves but the place we had originally booked randomly sold and sent us our money back, so the place we found at the last minute made us use their caterer and it was not buffet style. i live in missouri, so if that answers your question lol.
  • I think that if the weddings you have been to in your area have all been open seating then I would stick with open seating because that is what others are used to.

Just make sure to have someone from the venue near the card table to help persuade guests to grab their designated card.

  • I'd assign tables (although not specific seats).  Then you can put escort cards at the tables so that the wait staff know which tables to serve what meals at.
