Re: new here and

  • a: That's a bit vague.  Do you have specific questions?
  • look into a planner. They can help you along.  I work as a wedding planner but I hired one for my own wedding. It took a lot of pressure off of me!
  • I would start with a guest list - write down all the people you would want to invite with your FI and then go from there.
Figure out a budget - see what you can realistically afford
think of a date you want - and then have a back up date just in case.
find a venue - visit several places. You'll know which one you want. that decision was a lot easier than I thought.
after that it's pretty easy - finding the other vendors start falling into place. :)
  • I would definitely start with a budget and a guest list. Are you paying for the wedding yourselves? Make a MUST HAVE list, and then go from there. If your family(ies) are helping to pay, then they should get a say in who should be invited as well. Have each side draft a list and then combine and go from there.

Once you have a budget established and a rough guest list you can start looking at venues. Do not pick a venue that is too small to hold all of your guests. Always plan for 100% attendance. Once you have a date set in stone then you can kind of make your own timeline depending on how much time you actually have. Do not ask your bridal party until 9 months or less before your wedding date.

I think those are the basics, good luck!
