name changing

To all you married ladies, did you use any name changing kit? I googled a kit and found www.bridekit.com
it looks good, but just wanted to see what others have done.

TIA!

I'm obviously not there yet, but I hear a lot about www.missnowmrs.com.

I think buying a kit is a waste of money. There are plenty of free checklists online... it's really not that difficult.

I agree with Kim-the kits are scams and unneccessary. Change your name with Social Security, take your new card to the DMV, most everything else will do it over the phone or with a copy of your license. The kits aren't going to go stand in line for you at the SS office or the DMV, and that's the biggest pain really. Otherwise, just print the forms out. It's free.

i think its a total waste of money.  the three biggest changes to make are your license,  social security card, and bank account...aside from the banking stuff you can print out paperwork online.  all other credit cards and such can mostly be done over the phone or online.

The kits are a waste of money. Make sure you do your SS card and Driver's license first. Then do all of your credit cards, student loans, car registration, title, mortgage, etc. Do your passport last since you have to mail in your marriage license.
