Makeup Question

I have a question about makeup. I got my makeup trial today, and honestly I really hate it. I got it airbrushed, and that looks fine, but the eyeshadow is awful. It is really, really heavy, and the mascara is so clumpy that all my eyelashes are stuck together. I kept telling the girl that it was too much for my liking, but she kept explaining that is was so heavy for the pictures. Is this true? Does it really have to be like that to have decent pictures? Should I be looking for a different person to do my makeup to make it more natural?

Re: Makeup Question

  • Wedding makeup generally is generally a little more dramatic for photos. But usually the makeup/colors are just a bit more vibrant than normal, not necessarily heavier. Clumpy eyelashes however, are never a good thing. I'd rather look and feel more comfortable in person on my wedding day than look overly done-up for the sake of photos.

If this makeup artist didn't listen to your concerns and ideas, I would look for a new one. Honestly, defending clumpy mascara alone would make me seek out a new MUA.

Check in with your photographer too. They might have better advice about good photo makeup.

  • Perhaps you should opt for some nice, full false lashes? They could be as dramatic as you'd like them to be and you don't have to worry about getting clumpy lashes from the generous amounts of mascara.

You should feel comfortable and beautiful on your wedding day, so if your make up artist won't listen to your concerns, you should consult with a few others.
