Good January honeymoon spots?

My fiance and I are pretty open minded as to where we actually go. That being said, we were looking mostly at St.Lucia, Antigua, or Napa Valley. Our one worry with the last one is that the weather won't be all that nice in mid-January.
Do any of you have recommendations for a fun honeymoon location? Like I said, we're really open to pretty much anything.

  • What is your budget?  How long do you want to go for?  These are important questions because without them I could tell you that you should go on a 3 month tour of Europe or a cruise around the world which may or may not work for your situation (but would be pretty cool).

  • I'm not wanting to exceed 3000, I would love for it to be less. We were planning on it being January 13-17. If we could tour Europe for 3 months on 3k that would be fabulous! Haha :)
  • I think an AI resort in Mexico would be ideal for your budget.  You could most likely spend even less then what you have planned.  I have never been to Mexico but many brides and former brides on here have and I am sure will offer you great advice on which AIs to stay at and where in Mexico is the best.

From friends who have gone, many of them have stayed in Playa del Carmen and also in Punta Cana and have loved it there.

  • Rome!  In January, there are much cheaper hotel rates, fewer crowds at the popular sites and at the restaurants, and the temperature is in the 50's!

The airfare alone would eat up a good chunk of the $3,000 budget and 5 days isn't nearly enough time to make the cost worth it.

Mexico and the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) will probably be your best bets.

  • $3K in the Caribbean in January is tough. But, as pps mentioned, Mexico is a great option. Lots of all inclusive options! I'm actually heading to London in November. My flights were around $950pp and even dropped lower than that after I bought them. That is from Phoenix, though, so you can get cheaper flights if coming from the East Coast. It might be tight for hotel rooms, but it's doable. I spent 5 nights in London in 2011 and it was still fun. I'm only going for 3 nights this time! A quick sightseeing and shopping trip :)
