It's FRIDAY!

What's good this weekend, ladies?

BF and I are going to some friends' wedding tonight. YAY! We got to see them meet and begin their relationship, and it's just exciting to get to see them get married now. :) So that will be fun. Unfortunately I'm going to have to leave super-early because I have clinical tomorrow and have to get up at ass o'clock tomorrow morning. *Sigh* I usually end up taking a huge nap after clinical, but hopefully I will manage to get through some studying as well that evening. Sunday, I will be getting together with my dad and brother for a bit, and then more studying.

Re: It's FRIDAY!

  • @amapola14 -Have fun at the wedding tonight!

Tonight FI and I are having dinner with his Dad and stepmom, we haven't seen them in a couple months so it's about time we have dinner with them. I love hanging out with them anyways, his stepmom is like my MIL b/c FI's mother is cray cray.

Saturday FI has tennis and I'm going in for my 2nd dress fitting since the alterations have been made...yay! I hope it fits! If it doesn't I will cry. @lmhollister is coming with me so she can learn how to bustle my dress...I have no earthly idea how to bustle a dress. Then...FI and I may go buy curtains yay!! We need them so bad lol. Then we will probably go have dinner at Bonefish grill noms! I love me some bang bang shrimp.

Sunday we have church and then we are having sushi with FI's mom...w/e she usually cancels so I'm not even going to put it on my calendar. Then I may go shopping with @lmhollister if we get time.
  • No major plans this weekend. I'm working from home today so after lunch if my boss takes off for the afternoon I might spend some time away from the computer making Slow Cooker Chicken Marrakesh. Peeling and dicing the sweet potatoes is time consuming. Tonight BF and I will probably just hang out, rake some leaves, drink some beers (or wine).

Saturday I'm going with @southernpeach89 for her final dress fitting. Hopefully I'm not a total retard when it comes to dress bustling....

Afterwards BF and I are heading up to North GA with some friends to go to the Georgia Marble Festival/Georgia State Bluegrass Championship. We went last year and had a wonderful time! They have this big area with a bunch of marble chunks from the local mine that are free for the taking (woo!). Maybe I'll find a cool piece to bring home for the garden or something.

Sunday no plans for us unless @southernpeach89 's future crazy MIL (FCMIL??) cancels on them as per her usual habit. If she cancels then sis and I get to go drink all the wines and go shopping for her extremely belated birthday present. I won't lie...I'm crossing my fingers that FCMIL cancels.

  • Have fun at the wedding, @amapola14, and enjoy the fitting, @southernpeach!

Tonight is gaming on campus - I have to decide in the next, oh, 7 hours or so whether I'm taking a commission or not. I had a friend of mine ask for a baby blanket for his sister at the end of August, for an end of September delivery. It's a tight turnaround time, but I told him I could do it. He then proceeded to tell me that my normal pattern (tumbling baby blocks) wasn't good enough and demanded that I make one to his sister's personal tastes. Which, I mean, I get it - IMO, it's for the kid, not her - but I'll do it, no problem. I found a pattern from a dishcloth of a cat with a heart on its tummy that I could repeat over the blanket, pattern-developed in less than a day, and got it off my needles well in advance. BF delivered it to another gaming session, and he collected payment in full. I asked him last Friday what he thought of it since I hadn't seen him in the interim, and he said he didn't like it. I can take criticism, but "I don't like it" doesn't help me make it better. Also, he wasn't going to return it because it was already wrapped for the baby shower the next day. I was a little taken aback, but I offered him a partial refund (meaning I sold at a loss, which really hurts on a commission). He then proceeded to tell me this week that his sister had trouble seeing the pattern, too; I don't understand why they had trouble, or why he felt the need to tell me because I can't do anything to fix it. Honestly, it was good work and I had other people who wanted to buy that blanket off me when they saw me working on it. His continued harping on it is starting to affect my friendship with him.

TL;DR - I don't know if I want to do a commission for a friend who was very difficult to work with on the last one.

Saturday I have no clue what we're doing. It's going to be cold, rainy, and windy, so I know we're staying inside.

Sunday is for football, but we're not staying up for Chargers-Raiders. I'll just trust that Denarius Moore has a decent game and check the results Monday morning.
  • Hi everyone! Work has completely insane this week, I'm on a new desk (new to me, new to my company) so I haven't been able to check in at all here since Tuesday :(

Tonight is Devils hockey!!! Our season started last night but tonight is the home-opener. H is picking me up from work and we're heading straight there. I can't wait!

Tomorrow I'm doing a 5k run/walk for colon cancer. I'm going to try to run it as much as I can but I'm not a runner and I haven't trained at all for this so we'll see how it goes. Afterwards, we're all going to brunch and then I'll probably be lazy for the rest of the day.

Sunday my Eagles play the Giants. Both teams suck but hopefully my guys will suck less.

  • TGIF!!!

I'm so tired of this week. New boss is eh, I'm unsure about her at the moment and she made some bad calls yesterday. We'll have to see how it goes.

BF comes up tonight for the weekend. We have to go up to my parent's since I need to give my mom my old phone. Beside that though, it's going to be a weekend of relaxing after a long week.

  • Tonight H and I are going to CHILL. It's been a long week and I've been sick for most of it...so we just want to stay home and relax. We're both off early today, so we may go catch and afternoon movie. It's only a high of 45 today and possibly our first SNOW! So it should be a good night to stay in and snuggle anyway.

Tomorrow i'm supposed to go to a big craft fair with my MIL. She's really excited and I've never been...so maybe i'll get some early christmas shopping done. Then planning to do some usual weekend cleaning. I'll probably also bake a chocolate cake for my MIL's birthday too.

We'll probably sleep in Sunday morning since that's a rare treat! Then run a couple errands. MIL & FIL are coming over for the Bronco's game (undefeated so far - WOO HOO) and MILs birthday party. Should be a good time.

  • @KeptInStitches that's super tough! It sounds like you were working with someone definitely a bit cray cray. They shouldn't commission a custom piece if they're picky enough that they can't envision something before it's made or trust in the person making it. (Do I make any sense? Coffee hasn't kicked in yet.)

  • TGIF!

I'm super excited for my date with BF tonight. We're going to see Gravity in 3D at the Alamo Drafthouse that just opened nearby in Yonkers. I'm really excited about seeing the film, and even more thrilled that I get to drink beer or cocktails and eat yummy foods while watching it After the movie, we'll open up a bottle of wine at home and probably snuggle on the couch and watch Parks and Rec.

Other than that, I don't have any plans this weekend. We'll probably print out the three new invitation designs I did this week, and get some photos of them so I can list them on Etsy. We might go hiking with the pup at a park nearby too.

    Does anyone here watch Parenthood?

  • @Kait, exactly. I'm okay with the client having some input, but usually when I'm making a baby blanket, mom-to-be gets asked what color she'd like. I haven't had anyone not like theirs, I know people are using them, and one of my cousins had to admit hers was stained. I couldn't be happier.
  • @KeptInStitches Exactly! If someone took the time to make something like that for my baby, I'd be so happy just for the thought that it's handmade!

  • Hiya everyone!

ANOTHER weekend in the suburbs (sigh).  BUT - tonight FI and I are going to pick up the free iPad we get for booking at the Hilton (totally random addition to our good deal for the wedding), and then just relaxing with my parents and possibly playing some games.

Saturday my mom and I are going to *probably* buy my dress.  (For any of you Chicagoans out there looking for a dress, House of Brides is having a big sale this weekend with a few hundred off everything).  Then is my best friend's son's first birthday party (hopefully it won't be as hot and humid as today!)

Sunday - Bears.  And naps.  And maybe stuffing our save the dates in envelopes and figuring out how to make the printer print labels for the envelopes so we don't have to hand-write them all.

Can it be next weekend yet where we have NOTHING to do??

    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • Yeah!  TGIF!

@Hummingbird125 - H and I are going to see Gravity in 3D too this weekend....we can't wait.  I'm very jealous you get to watch it at the Alamo Drafthouse....how I miss those days in Austin (I went there for law school).

@KateJ16 - The Hilton is a great venue, congrats!

@KeptInStitches - That just sucks about your friend's reaction.  "I don't like it" is not really valid criticism, I agree.

@Swazzle - Good luck with the 5k!  You are way more ambitious than me but I can't run to save my life.  I think if a bear was chasing me I could run for like 5 minutes top (its always been that way due to some extreme asthma) but I've always wanted to be a runner.  It seems like such an effective workout.

Let's see.  Today H and I are just going to relax (he's been working very long hours lately so he deserves some ice cream).  My goals for the weekend include tracking everything I eat/drink no matter what and working out for at least an hour each day...hope I can stick to it.

Saturday H and I are going to see Gravity in 3D...can't wait.  Sunday H will likely watch football and I will try to get out and enjoy the sunshine if we have some.  :)

  • @swazzle I was never a runner either but I shockingly did a 5k last year - and then an 8k after that!  My advice - try to set it up so you run/walk.  They have apps for phones now to do intervals, and honestly you'll be surprised at how easy it is.  I think I started with running for 1 min, walking for 1.5.  That way you can balance yourself and not overdo it! :)

@minskat30 @hummingbird125 - I think we are going to see Gravity tomorrow after the bday party - it looks so good!

  • Happy Friday, ladies!

I don't have any real plans for this weekend. We were going to go apple picking, but the weather Saturday looks like garbage and Sunday is football day. So I don't think we're going to go :(

I will work on both days at least a little. . . boo.

Maybe I can get a group together to watch a hockey game Saturday night. The Blackhawks are playing. And then Sunday we will also just veg and watch football all day. My fantasy team needs a win this week!
  • @cschiano, who's in your lineup?
  • Thanks @southernpeach89! Have so much fun this weekend eating all the fish and sushi! So exciting to go to your fitting :D

@keptinstitches, ugh, sorry your friend reacted in such a nasty way. I bet it is a BANGIN' baby blanket!
  • @Keptinstiches - my QB is Aaron Rodgers, my 3 WRs are Brandon Marshall, Randall Cobb, and Brandon LaFell, my RBs are Ryan Matthews and Lamar Miller (could start LeGarrette Blount instead of one of them), my TE is Antonio Gates, I have Robbie Gould at K and the Panthers D (could play the Texans D but they've been sucking this year).
  • I am super excited for this weekend! Tonight BF and I are going to the circus! I love the circus and it should be really fun :) Then tomorrow BF has something planned to celebrate our anniversary because we didn't get to do anything big to celebrate last weekend. I have no idea what his plan is though because he's keeping it a secret right now.

Also, it's snowing which makes me happy because I love snow and how pretty it is!

  • @cschiano - I'm starting Matt Ryan at QB, Marshawn Lynch and Reggie Bush at RB, Denarius Moore, Brandon Marshall, and Wes Welker at WR, Owen Daniels at TE, the Rams D/ST, and David Akers at K. Therefore, we can immediately conclude that David Akers will suck this weekend because being my starting kicker is the kiss of death.

@KeptinStiches - Wes Welker is money. And so are  your RBs. I have Owen Daniels on my bench.
  • I win this weekend, I'm naming my firstborn son Wes. Publically declared. Hereby vow to follow through. (Normally wouldn't, but I'm up against the "Evil Empire" in my league - last undefeated team, she's way too stacked for her own good.)
  • @BethSmiles - You're getting snow? It's not snowing downtown yet, but I bet it is at my house. I hope it's enough to play with Remi in it! Also super exciting about your surprise anniversary plans! I can't wait to hear all about it monday!!! Enjoy the circus too. :)
  • @allusive007 - We got a little bit of now this morning but now it's stopped :( I don't want a ton of snow but a few inches would be okay with me!

  • Hi ladies!  Work has been crazy this week, and I have really only been able to lurk during the day.  This makes me sad.

I'm super excited for this weekend.  I'm in the middle of the worlds most boring webinar, and just really want it to be over!  I really don't care what are company's booth looks like at next week's show.  Gah, this is such a waste of 2 hours of my life!

But as soon as it is, I'm getting in a cab for the airport.  This lady will be spending the weekend in the Finger Lakes drinking obnoxious amounts of wine with her BFF.  Bring it!

I'll also be staying on the Canada side of Niagara, and am happy to get a stamp in my passport and check that country off of my to-do list.  I'm hoping it doesn't rain too bad, so I can make it to the Falls this weekend, too.

  • Bleh. I'm grading all the live-long day, and then hanging out with a friend tonight. I want to spend time with her, but what I thought was going to be dinner and drinks after work has turned into a very late dinner at her apartment, and THEN drinks after that. Friday after 9pm? It'll be crowded :(

Plus, the Sox are playing at 3pm and I have no access to TBS D:D:D:

Saturday I'm going to do NOTHING except maybe clean, maybe spend some time with my future in-laws. Sunday is more nothing, with a little bit of coursework. I need a relaxing weekend.

woohooo! its been such a long week! TGIF! The BF and I are going to an Irish pub tonight. He is running sound for his friends band and I plan on listening to some good music while drinking rum and cokes :)  Saturday we are going to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins then perhaps to an observatory and planetarium to look at Space. Sunday we are going to our friends' house for a football pitch-in! I can't wait to get my weekend started!

@Suzie211 - I know the American side of the falls has a bad rap for being boring, but I can't recommend doing this highly enough - clicky
I grew up near Niagara Falls and visited them literally dozens of times as a kid and as an adult. I thought I had seen it all. A few years ago I did this and it absolutely blew me away.

ETA: You get to walk so close to the falls at the bottom that  you are getting pelted in the face with water from them.
  • @cschiano That definitely looks like its worth checking out!  Thanks for the suggestion. I'm excited to check out the area.  BFF moved out their for her BF and a new job, and I haven't had a chance to head her way.  She loves stuff like that, and it would be fun to check that out with her.
