Rehearsal dinner

I know that if I have 20 people that would be included in my rehearsal, and 30 guests, I should include the extra ten people in the rehearsal since it's a destination wedding, and leaving them out would be crappy. Since it's looking like we will have 40-50 people attending, does anyone know where that cut-off is? I'm just trying to find restaurants that can cater to a larger group size, and I need to give them the larger end so they can tell us whether they can accommodate.

Thanks!

Re: Rehearsal dinner

  • Don't know if this helps since we're in the 20-25 range but we are inviting all of our guests to the rehearsal dinner. (We're calling it a "welcome" dinner since there's really not going to be much rehearsing going on prior!)
  • We are doing the same as @mmm4763

  • I'm not really sure where the cut-off is. I'm having 30 people at the rehersal, and really have no clue how many people will be at the wedding. Some guests are going to be left out, but it's not in my budget to host everyone (provided everyone invited actually comes). So, we are going with the bridal party and leaving it at that.

  • We had about 40 people attend. We had a rehearsal lunch with just family/wedding party and then afterward we had drinks and appetizers that night as a welcome party. I wish we would have just done one thing as I was SUPER tired and ready to just go to bed by the time the welcome party rolled around.
  • Thank you all! That is super helpful. I think we are going to do a separate welcome party on Sunday, because people will be arriving on Saturday, and will want to sleep. And We'll make it a tour of Florence Sunday afternoon, followed by drinks at my favorite pub. Monday is the bachelorette party, and then Tuesday we'll have another activity that everyone can partake in - maybe a trip out to Fiesole, then later a rehearsal dinner with just the wedding party.
  • @icecreamcono seriously if you want to invite me to your wedding I will totally come. Your trip sounds fabulous!! LOL

I just want to caution you - leave some open spots in there for naps and breaks. We had one planned activity a day (except for rehearsal day - where there was rehearsal / lunch / welcome party). Towards the end of the week (before the wedding) I was getting so tired. Lots of little things come up, random events end up happening and you will be SO thankful if you have some downtime planned in to your trip so you don't have to cancel or cut-short anything!!
  • That's smart. Why are you so smart!!

I'll definitely have to carve out down time, and offer activities that FI and I might not be at, at least not for the whole time.
