Pre-wedding Parties

Lingerie Party

I just had my bachelorette party this weekend and as part of it, my bridesmaids all got me lingerie for my wedding night/honeymoon.  I just wanted to post one of the things out there because it was SOOO cute and such a good idea to keep in mind for any future Bach Parties I attend.

My one friend got me a "stoplight" gift saying that what I wear when I climb into bed should be a sign to my hubby of what may (or may not) be to come.  The red gift was a cute pair of VS Pink boyshort undies that said "No way!" on them for when I'm absolutely not in the mood to get busy.  The yellow gift, for "when I wasn't thinking about sex but could be persuaded" was a cute little red nightie that's slightly on the sexy side.  And the green gift was this crazy sexy barely even there outfit that I'm going to have to learn how to even put on for when I'm ready to get dirty!

It was SOOO cute.  Did you guys ever get anything super cute like this.

    I'm glad you like it.

My husband and I do things like...talk...so my underwear doesn't need to do the communicating for me.

Same here. We communicate directly and openly about intimacy. I would never consider color coding my sexual desires.

Plus I have some pretty swanky red panties that he likes and I'd be crushed if he saw it as a "do not proceed" signal.

  • Wow.  Not a post I meant to be attacked for.  It was just the theme of the gift.  Obviously I won't be using it as the only signal of whether we're having sex or not.

For the record, neither of us attacked you. So you might want to avoid false accusations.

I said I'm glad you liked it. I don't have to agree with the concept of the gift.

  • It's only a good idea if the bride and groom will both like it.  Just because you liked it doesn't mean your friends will so don't make this your automatic go to gift for bachelorette parties.  It's definitely a "know your audience" kind of gift.

No one attacked you OP. I also am glad you enjoyed your party. If you do keep it in mind for the future, also keep in mind that some of your friends might be humiliated by something like this. As long as you know your customer, it's a fine idea.
  • In my circles bachelorette parties aren't gift giving events, and I would not be okay with people giving me lingerie.  YMMV.

  • That does sound cute! I also got some lingerie at my bachelorette party :)

This.  Not to mention, I would find it creepy if other people bought me lingerie.
  • We do lingerie parties here too... And I will be having one at my bachelorette party. I love that idea!!!

OP, while I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, I would find it creepy too...as I did when for an office shower I was at, the bride was given lingerie from VS.  It's just not to my taste.

This is not an attack-I just don't find the concept "cute."
  • I got some lingerie at my bridal shower from well-meaning guests, and I don't embarrass easily so I was happy to hold it up for all the guests to see, but none of it fit and it wasn't my style.  Lingerie is the kind of thing I like to buy myself.

My sister, on the other hand, loved all the lingerie she received at her bachelorette party.  Miraculously everything fit her.  So it just depends on the person.  I'm glad you enjoyed your gifts! :)

  • Here, it's common to get a card in the invitation to the lingerie "shower" or "party" that states the size of the bride.
