The Standard group

Hi! I'm sure my fellow pittsburgh bridettes receieved the same email about this group. Has anyone used them??

Do you get what you pay for or do they produce what they say - good quality for a lower price? I'm from OOT so won't really get a chance to meet them at a bridal show or anything like that, but I'm really trying to find a cheaper photographer. The photos on their site look good but I understand with a group like that you don't always know who you're gonna get and what their work is actually like.

Thanks for any reviews!

Re: The Standard group

  • I've seen a wedding that they did - and it was good quality. One thing to note though - it's only one photographer. If you want your wedding covered by two (sop), they don't have that listed in their basic package (it may be availabe if you ask?). Also, I didn't *love* their sample wedding photos and while my friend's pictures were "fine", I'm not sure I'd call them the best wedding photos I've ever seen.

I'm not the best review since I haven't dealt with the directly, but part of my thought process right now is about how much do I care about amazing photos? I may not care enough (especially since there will be so many of them) to spend more and this is a way I can cut costs down. I may roll the dice on them. They have all 5 star reviews at weddingwire, so that makes me feel better (slightly).
  • I actually just met them at a wedding show last weekend. I was impressed by how professional they were and they answered a lot of my questions.

I was told that since there are so many photographers the way that they determine who yours will be is after you book their service you fill out a type of questionaire about the type of photos you're looking for and they match you with someone appropriate.

I'm still debating if I'm adding them into my list of photogs that I'm interested in. I'm kind of on the other spectrum though that photos are the one thing I'm willing to splurge on and cut costs in other areas. I figure I only get married once I want to have great photos to remember it. Hope that helps!
  • I also met them at a bridal show (a few months ago) and I was interested in booking a DJ through them but they said they were completely sold out for all of 2013.

They are kinda like a "broker" for photography/DJs, they don't employ their own people. So you don't know who are you getting until closer to the date.  Great way to save money if you aren't too picky about researching and reading reviews about your vendor. :)
